I got accepted into UCSD for computer science and engineering. I have a certified IGETC and have met my transferable units requirements.

I was taking a fitness class this semester for fun, an elective bootcamp that was 1 unit. But mid way through march, my schedule at work changed and I had to drop it otherwise I would have failed the class for not attending. Now I have a W on my transcript there. I already contacted the admissions office and submitted a form to let them know.

Will this result in my acceptance being rescinded?? It was only an elective....but I am really scared.

You should of called first, and explained your situation. Getting their permission to drop would be a lot safer. In your case though, I doubt they will change your admissions status since you’ve completed all major pre-reqs and IGETC. The only reason reason for your acceptances being revoked would be because you’re below the 60 unit requirement. Since you’re a CS major and completed IGETC I doubt that’s the case. Have fun being a Triton.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I figured I would be just fine but I still panic from time to time. I couldn’t have NOT dropped the course, it was either drop the course or have my promotion at work taken away. So…that wasn’t going to work too well. Alas, because it was an elective and just a class to take up space with, I am hoping for the best ^^;;

I had the same issue about a one unit PE course that I just couldn’t find time to attend (clock in hours anytime all day at the school gym)
I called my UCR advisor and asked, and he gave me permission to drop it.

This gives me hope haha! The woman I spoke to the UCSD admissions officer I called two days ago, she seemed fairly sure that I would be fine. But hearing that another school gave someone of a similar case to mine the OK to drop it makes me relieved Thanks!

I am in a similiar situation lol. I have this online 2-unit class that is not part of my TAG or major, or UC transferable. I signed up purely for self-interest, but it’s taking away a lot of time from the courses that I actually need to complete. Should I assume that I am safe in dropping it? :x I have more than enough units.

@greenflame call the schools you applied to (or the one you’re going to, if you SIR’d) and double check with them. when I called my UCR advisor and asked if I could drop, he said yes and that he will “take it off” (whatever that means?)
make sure you call though! better safe then sorry.

DO NOT WORRY!!
I called multiple campuses and very certain that , As long as the course you’re dropping does not affect the 60Units, and the required courses, which is different from campus to campus. Then it is totally fine!
I dropped the Speech class which required by CSUs, so it was fine.
