Dropping Honors...

So I'm a junior and I want to drop two honors courses that I make A's in (English and History) because I'm bored and miserable in it (and being in those classes makes my schedule awkward). I had no honors before this year. The kids in my English class are just interested in getting by and not learning. It's completely different than the regular classes where the kids who try to cheat the system are actually interesting to me.

I make A's because it's pretty easy and I'm good at writing. Next year in Honors, I think it'll be less writing and more analysis and story details.

I just want to be happy like I was last year without my honors classes.

I don't know if they'll let me do it since my grades were over 100 for both semesters of those classes but I don't want to hate coming to school next year like I do this year. (One of the guidance counselors basically told me I was SOL)

I'd want to continue it this year and drop it for next year.

I had C's freshman year and all A's and a B last year, all A's this year. It's not like I'm going to an Ivy League school but how bad will my dropping honors with one year left of these courses look to a college?

This makes no sense whatsoever. You’re dropping honors classes you have 100%+ in?!

Hmmm… ■■■■■?

If not just stick out with the class. I would take a C before a WF. If you want you should ask to move back down for next year. In my school you can select CP elective English classes senior year.

No, no. I want to move down next year. Not this year.

Would that look bad on my transcript for college?

That’s fine. It won’t look great but you can explain it in your app

Thanks. What do I say that’s reasonable?

Well, it wouldn’t look good. If you can do well in the class you may as well take it. You’re not going to enjoy every class you have to take in college either. Why do you care so much about the motives of the other people in the class?

Because I have to hear it. I don’t care for anyone in the class and I’m just not happy.

Like I said, I don’t want to go to a school that’s really hard to get into my first year of college.

I would recommend that you stick it out senior year too but it’s your decision.

What if I traded those two classes for Honors Physics?

Have you considered dual enrollment? You might like the environment/people better.

I don’t think I can do that.

I just want to enjoy senior year.

Is my having A.D.H.D. a good enough excuse for college?

Probably not, but a good enough excuse for what? What did you do?
Has the ADHD been treated?

I meant for move out of Honors…

I see how it doesn’t look the best to move out of honors but I don’t think it’s the worst thing to do as far as getting into college.

I mean, I was thinking of going to a state school and then switching to a better school further later once I find out what I want to do.

I mean, is this move down detrimental for me getting into a state school when I meet other requirements?
I just don’t understand how bad it is.

Depending on what state school you mean, if it’s not too selective you’ll probably get in regardless of whether you ever took honors as long as you have a good GPA and test scores. Most colleges aren’t anywhere near as hard to get into as the ones commonly mentioned on here.

I have a hard time reading things and remembering and even writing on the spot. It took me a whole day to read 30 pages of a book one time. Granted, I didn’t like the book, but still.
Everything is oral in history, so I’m good there. No reading involved. That’s why I get A’s. Same reason I got A’s my first semester of English because we only had to read a small book. I can probably still get an A the second semester because this teacher doesn’t stress story details as much as themes, which I understand.
If I have to do more of what I’m weak in next year, my grades will suffer.

As long as a teacher doesn’t use a textbook or require too much reading or self teaching I’m fine. (That goes for my weaker mathematical subjects too.)

I have a 24 on ACT with 8 on writing. I only took it with Geometry under my belt so I should do better now that I have Algebra II and a little more preparation.

I should have a 3.5 cumulative by the time I’m done high school.

Being able to read and learn on your own are very important skills in college. Have you gotten any sort of help/treatment for this?
