So I applied and got in to LSA and MTD. But I am unclear as to whether or not I will get two degrees.

If I accept both and major in Psychology and Drama, will I receive a BA AND a BFA? Only a BFA?

Is anyone actually enrolled in a dual degree program who can answer my question? Thanks!

Which drama program were you accepted to? BFA Performance, BFA Design & Production, or Bachelor of Theatre Arts?

If you fulfill the requirements for both a Psychology major and a Theatre major, you will receive two degrees. A BA in Psychology and a BFA (or a BTA) in whichever theatre major you were accepted to.

My son is presently dual enrolled in SOMTD and LSA pursuing a BFA and BA. Generally, while it is “do-able,” it makes for a very demanding schedule, eg. 18 credit load, and necessitates very careful planning – just a few filled courses or a late registration can mess you up. Keep your options open – no harm if after a few years you decide to drop down to a single degree due to money or time. Typically, if your theater degree is BFA, you may find you need a fifth year to complete it all. But do not worry, you will receive special joint counseling at your orientation and it will become more clear to you there. Good luck and congrats! You’ll love SOMTD, and Michigan in general!

PS - They will also send you a form asking you to confirm your intent to pursue both degrees. For now, make sure you return it. That’s what gives you access to dual degree counseling at orientation.
