Oh good, that made me feel somewhat better. Although it would be amazing to get one. So how do they decide who to send them to?

@CC20132017 - I got one from Puget Sound but not from Duke, haha. I’m jealous! Congratulations!

CC- I got the exact same letter! My college counselor says it’s a good foretelling of our admissions decisions.

For those of you who received the letter, did you already have your interview?

Sorry, I meant to say post card!

I also had an interview before the post card was sent.

omg yes i got one too. what does it mean? judging from previous threads, it doesn’t sound exactly like a likely letter, because those are apparently accompanied with invitations to visit campus for free. i thought it was awfully nice of them though. getting that postcard made me very happy :)

oh, yes, i had my interview too. i had an awkward situation with my interviewer though, but i guess things turned out okay

congrats! – I guess? :)

Where do y’all live? I wonder if I’ll get one next week…

Has there anyone ever went to Duke for a visit? I’ve heard someone saying Duke does not have a very good atmosphere among students. Well, I doubt that because Duke is a big university, which definitely has a large students body. I am just asking is it easy to find someone who shared same interests with you in Duke? I am not a big fan of basketball, but I do really like tennis and many other sports.
By the way, I am an RD applicant this year of Trinity. Chance me.

thx~really for your comments! You are a current Duke undergraduate student?

I just went to Duke for a visit last week, and honestly I kind of agreed. Duke is obviously a stellar school academic wise, but just from what I saw that day there wasn’t a whole lot of interaction between the students. Don’t read into that, I’m not a student there, I could be completely and entirely wrong. It’s just what I noticed in the day that I spent on campus. I was way more impressed with the faculty. I spent most of the day in the neuroscience/biology buildings and labs and I had multiple people who just sat and talked to me, asking about why I liked Duke, telling me about what they did, all kinds of stuff. That being said, the few students I did talk to were also amazing, and were extremely helpful and friendly. It just wasn’t the same vibe that I got from most of the other schools I’ve visited. Also, I know some people who are students at Duke and they don’t like basketball either. From what I’ve heard, there’s plenty of everything else to do there, and if I’m not mistaken I think the Duke tennis team won some national thing last year. But…you are in the south, and this is basketball country:)

thx for your info, nc. Actually when I talked about sports, I do not really want to know how great the school’s basketball or tenis team is. I just want to find people who enjoy playing sports. They don’t need to be very professional, but I would love to find someone who really loves sports and loves spending time doing sports. So we may hang out together in the tennis court and have a match probably. I am kind of sporty and open. I’ve heard a lot about Duke’s greatness in sports, which based on my knowledge, should be student’s participation in sports while not only their team’s success.

and still, chance me for Duke RD, thx~

Duke is great! My gf loves playing tennis there with the rest of the Duke kids.

From what I’ve seen, it’s tough meeting someone with exact interest in any school. Most of your friends will come from your dorm. You end up developing new interests. It’s all about the crowd you hang around with. In all, it’s a great social place.

Carleton College VS Duke Trinity
intented major: Physics or Eco.
Want to study business in master degree.
Ask for input~both academically and generally

shutup and ask your question somewhere else

^Huh, why are you being rude?

Carleton and Duke are very different educational settings 478866455. I suggest that you visit both schools if you are admitted to them and figure out what’s a better fit: a small liberal arts college or a medium-sized private research university.

Physics at Duke is a very small department however and the professors are very eager to work with students, forming an LAC-like environment so you might get the best of both worlds at Durham: world-class research and excellent teaching.

I didn’t get interview request yet. Does that mean I have little chance get in Duke? Thanks!

^No, that just means that there aren’t Duke alumni/members in your area. They explain that on their website.

Or that you didn’t submit your app prior to December 10th for interview consideration.

@alexissss That makes sense. I submitted my app after 12/10. Hope I still have chance. Thanks!
