Intern at a mortgage company organizing outreach programs. I worked with a local science center camp counseling. I attended 3 Duke summer programs (Idk if this makes any difference)
I know chance me is kind of unrealistic I just want some honest, non-biased opinions
Anyone from IL? I’m from a small town 2.5 hours south of chicago and afraid I can’t compete with those big schools.
Our number are very similar except I am in the top 3% of my class, and my ACT subjects are
35 M, 35 E, 31 R, 30 S (33C)
I am a potential Bio major
I also scored a 4 on my AP Lang and a 5 on APUSH
@1256asas
ugh class rank isn’t fair
it totally depends entirely on the school
I’d say that your ranking helps a lot if you go to a fairly competitive school (or in the context of your school you are doing well which seems to be the case) @orangeandblack21
Yeah, @stressedoutstu at my school the difference between rank 50 and 30 out of 530 is 0.03 it really depends on the school as well.
@stressedoutstu i completely agree. they just want to see where you compare to others that are taking the same classes as you. in my case, i jumped from around 30 to 8, which shows growth but i still don’t think it’ll be enough to get in lol
ugh i have the same gpa as valedictorians in nearby schools and am in the top 11% at my school
Yeah, at my school we have 20 seniors in the IB program out of 530 students and we don’t get as many grades on our transcripts because our classes are two years long versus normal or AP classes only being a half a year long (we’re on a quarter system) so they get double the grades. So we get screwed over for ranking lol. Do you guys know if colleges get that info or not about how many people in IB classes?
hopefully they value gpa more than rank
Yeah but also grade inflation… some schools are so so much easier to get A’s at
your counselor should explain some of that i would think ??? we don’t even do IB where i am from haha
Ah I’m just nervous this has been my dream for so long
at my school, the harder your schedule, the higher you’re GPA is (assuming you do well)
