Here’s to wishing everyone good luck tomorrow. Please remember you are are special in your own way and talented and will make a success at any school you attend. I will always share a story of a kid I graduated with. I’m the parent of kids apply ed to Duke.
He graduated, barely at 432 out of 458. The top kid’s in my class when to ivy’s, MIT, etc etc. He went to community college and dropped out after one semester, he then started a business, by the time everyone was graduating at 22 years old and first getting jobs, he had become a millionaire.
More importantly than that he had found his passion what he wanted to do if life and that my friend is the secret to it all.
Find something you love to do and you won’t work a day in your life!!
Super random, I know but I think a day from today some of us are going to feel amazing and some kinda crappy so I think regardless we need to evaluate what’s truly important and I’m curious to know what you would tell your future self that is either accepted/rejected/deferred
I would tell myself nothing is as bad as it seems and no matter the decision, you will be happy in the future. You already worked so hard in high school and if a college doesn’t accept you, it’s for the better. I have other colleges to apply to and I am blessed to have the opportunity to even apply to college. So, everything is going to work out in the end even if it is not the way you wanted it in the first place. Good luck everyone @1256asas
I’m SO NERVOUS! 16.5 more hours of torture… good luck to everyone!! I’m going to need as much as I can get. I just want to cry already because I just know for a fact I’m not getting in.
I got my first EA acceptance yesterday and honestly don’t care about this anymore if i get in sick if not oh well I’ll be fine we’ll all be fine. I’m honestly mad at myself for allowing this to take over my fall
I heard Duke sent out acceptance letter to some of their favorite applicants yesterday… is it true? has anyone received it yet? omg, i feel bad … 11 hrs left…
@alvidaaaaaaaaaaa I would also like to know where you heard this from… Duke and all the Ivy’s have seemed pretty steadfast in their hard 7PM release time. This is a move that doesn’t make much sense, if true-- after all, the letters (if sent) would only precede the decisions by a day, and this seems fairly pointless/would prompt about 3 million admissions office calls asking about it.
@PBern123@CJPolo13 I heard it from my counselor… he had no idea who this lucky guy is… I don’t think this message is reliable. It makes sense to me if Duke sent such acceptance letter early in RD round, but ED, why??? Sorry for making any unnecessary panic T^T
Good luck tonight! My S was accepted ED two years ago to Pratt. The decisions were released a few minutes before 7pm (about 10 minutes before), the decision popped up right away as soon as he logged into the portal there was not a link to click on, financial aid offer was there as well, and around noon on that day there was an online article posted by Duke Today with stats about the release of decisions to come that night. Again, good luck whatever the outcome.
@CJPolo13 when he logged into the portal the acceptance letter filled the screen. I assume that a denied or deferred would be the same. I know it’s hard to be at school today. On decision day, I was texting back and forth with my S while he was hiding it in class. When the Duke Today article came out we were texting about the stats. I remember that the acceptance rate dropped from 25% to 24% so he was concerned he wasn’t going to be accepted. I know there’s a drop to 20% for you guys. Just remember that 1 out of 5 being accepted is still much better than RD. You’ll know soon. Hang in there.
