Want to let everyone know this as apparently I didn’t get the memo: Duke requires that ALL SAT, SAT II, AND ACT scores you’ve ever taken be sent for admission. For someone like me who has taken the ACT about 10 times, this was something to hear.
@Pastpower But the Duke website says this in the application instructions section:
“All candidates for admission must complete one of the following standardized testing options: the ACT, including writing, or the SAT, including the essay for students who choose to submit the new SAT. For students who submit the SAT, two SAT Subject Tests are strongly recommended. Students who have taken multiple tests may choose which scores to send to Duke. For students who elect to send multiple test scores Duke will use whichever score is highest.”
@Pastpower you would be wrong, not sure where you got that information from.
@MaybeHarvard2022 @dancinginastorm Unless the policy has changed, I saw it on previous threads (latest one dated last year), as well as PrepScholar. Possibly these aren’t even credible sources, but I emailed my admissions counselor anyway for clarification
Yes the policy changed. My S is class of 2020 and he had to submit his entire test record.
I e-mailed the Duke office a while back (a year ago) and they said:
Anyone been contacted for an interview yet? I have not personally but one of my friends who goes to my school received an email from an alumnus a few hours ago. I shouldn’t be worried that he recieved one before I did correct?
@Pastpower dont worry, it doesnt mean anything.
@Pastpower I submitted my app on the 20th and an alum contacted me this past Wednesday to set up an interview.
@Mingting2018 Yes that’s okay! In an email I got it said that they want everything in by January 16th, I forgot to ask before break as well haha
@kuhlm44937 Great, thanks!
@MaybeHarvard2022 Is there a reason why I shouldn’t worry? It’s a little perplexing to me that Duke claims that interviews are on a first-come, first-served basis yet I applied on December 8th and have yet to be contacted for an interview. My friend applied minutes before December 20th and was contacted in January. We both live in the same area. Maybe my interviewer hasn’t gotten around to contacting me or forgot about it??
@Pastpower interviewers are busy people so they’ll contact you when they’re available, sit tight.
I submitted my application after the 20th and was contacted to set up an interview recently
@MaybeHarvard2022 I’m aware and don’t intend to sound impatient at all, just a little mind-boggling considering my circumstances. I really desired an interview which is why I made every effort to submit my app as early as possible. I will definitely wait it out until at least two weeks then probably email the office of admissions if I don’t hear anything.
I also haven’t been contacted for an interview yet (I applied before the priority deadline). It seems like they are still in the process of setting them up, so I don’t think we should be worried for now
First post here. My daughter submitted her application around Dec 26, she received an e-mail yesterday about an interview by phone or Skype.
Is my math correct?
1720 total spots for the 2022 class
875 out of 4090 ED applicants accepted 12/14/2017
882 ED applicants deferred to RD
845 spots left for RD round
~31000 RD applications last year
<3% chance of getting an RD spot if 2018 receives similar number of RD applications. ED applications were up 16%, so could be ~36,000 RD apps.
https://today.duke.edu/2017/12/duke-accepts-875-early-decision-applicants
@ccsouth your math is incorrect. Last year in the RD round alone Duke admitted 2,255 students (7.3% of RD applicants).
Does the link above state the 2022 class will be 1720 students or am I not reading it correctly? It says ED was already 51% of the class.
