So I sent my common app to Duke yesterday, and in the the future plans section I put down chemical engineering on accident but my supplement and essay were about environmental engineering. I haven't sent my supplement but if I put down environmental engineering on my supplement and write about it in my essay, will they be super-confused? Is there a way to tell them that I meant to put down environmental engineering in the future plans section?

I believe that you can email admissions and tell them about the mistake–I had an issue with a small section on mine as well, and they fixed it.

I would wait until after the 14th, though, as the admissions department is probably in a cluster**** trying to get the ED announcements prepared.

Duke doesn’t even have chemical engineering–do you think they’ll go along with what I put on my supplement and essays instead?

They don’t? I thought I read on there that they have a dual major in chem/bm engineering…

@OP: You are right; Duke does not offer a chemical engineering major. What I would do is email or call them and let them know you meant to put environmental engineering in the Future Plans section, not chemical engineering. It is good that you didn’t write about chemical engineering in your supplemental essay; that would have sent out red flags. Try contacting them as soon as possible, despite ED decisions coming out soon. Good luck!
