I’m in state. I don’t think demonstrated interest is a factor. I don’t plan on going to UGA and didn’t do anything more than pay the fee and submit everything on time…
@Xboxgamergirl I have been a three sport athlete all four years, i am a captain of all three teams. I have had a steady job all throughout high school. I am in NHS and started my own service club benefiting a non profit in my community. 3.87 is very good at my school because i have taken the hardest curriculum offered. I am just very confused. A girl in my grade was accepted, but has about the same ACT and a slightly higher Gpa. I have already gotten into harder schools with scholarships. I was serious about UGA.
I didn’t get a scholarship but I have zell miller
@Xboxgamergirl uhhh the advice you gave about his deferral is pretty dumb, UGA accepts the top applicants. They don’t consider the likelihood of attendance and defer based on that…that’s arbitrary and would end up consisting of a lot of blind guesses. They accepted 7,500 just from EA when the class size ends up being 5,000. I think that pretty clearly shows they take those that meet the criteria, not on probability of attendance.
@zzztttwww , what I said was not advice. As someone who has interned at uga and has spoken to the DEAN, I know what I’m talking about. In addition I would like to add that my school had a girl who got DENIED because she had a 36 act, 4.5 GPA and was a top swimmer in the nation. this is a professional site where one should address another with respect. Please take that into consideration when posting.
@torptyrety , then apply regular and then you should get in.
@Xboxgamergirl Oh I didn’t realize you and the dean were good friends, I redact my post in that case.
daugher accepted.OOS. Food Science major. Classic scholarship.
@torptyrety I feel your pain. 2260 SAT and deferred! GPA is somewhere around 3.7 but I go to a very challenging private high school OOS. I’m also the captain of the lacrosse team. I was hoping to get honors, and I was really considering Georgia (especially if honors). I also visited the school… Sucks that UGA would do this
Okay everyone:
As a fellow student and creator of this line I hate to see what is happening here. Please be considerate of people’s feelings if they are deffered or denied. Be truthful but realize that this isn’t a competition on who is right or wrong or is better. This is a forum for advice and not of the professional kind. For professional advice feel free to DM or even contact an actual admission counselor. We are here for support and help and to share our experience of the college journey, not to put anyone down.
Thank you and best of luck to everyone. Enjoy your thanksgiving!
