They came out the ninth last year, any news of this year?
Perhaps this friday, the 7th?
I've been checking the blogs and nothing is up yet.

Ohhh, no. Don't say that. Now I'm going to implode with anxiety before Friday.

Nah, I'd be expecting more of a 15th date for online decisions. The online decisions tend to come out the day after decisions are mailed, and it's always on a Saturday at noon.

So I'm banking on the 15th.

Not feeling the 8th? one day off of last year?

why do you pick a date 6 days off? Any reason? or just thinking closer to mid-december?

Does anyone know if the decisions are e-mailed, or on MYMIT? Both? How were notifications made last year? Thanks.

On one of Ben's blogs, I guess people started speculating about whether or not the date would once again be the 9th and he responded via a comment:

"Hey guys,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I didn't want this rumor to go too far - I don't yet know the exact date, but it definitely won't be as early as December 9th.

I'll let you know as soon as I know!

-B"

So i think the guess of the 15th is a pretty good guess.. unless it's even later than that :(

The decisions are sent through postal mail, and there is a section on the MyMIT portal where you can choose to view them if you want. They do not email decisions.

This year's EA applications were up 13% over last year, to 3,937 applications. I can't imagine this year's decisions would be made available earlier than in previous years. I'd vote for the 15th as a likely date.

EDIT: per poster above, I guess BenJones's comment pretty much seals that!

I'm hoping somewhere between the 10th and the 15th... I hope it's not as late as the 15th.

Hope so too but I have a bad feeling it'll be closer to the 15th. That's bc Ben said "DEFINITELY won't be as early as Dec 9" which makes me think its probably not the 10th either. And they had so many more applications this year (wahh :()

wow it came out as early as the 9th last year?????? ugh i don't think i can wait until the 15th......

they could at least release a release date soon.. . . .. ..

i think they will break the tradition of saturday release dates. well, i hope at least. im going with 12:00 pm EST dec. 12.

Ah! Better not be Dec 12. That's my birthday, and I don't think MIT is generous enough to give me an acceptance.

that would be a pretty sweet birthday present though haha :P

i heard it's usually on saturday, so december 15 is my guess

I think it will be the 15th as well... In fact, I'm pretty sure that I read that date somewhere (although, one of my friends could have told me that Dec. 15th was the decision date for his/her school...).

It's December 14th for most of the Ivies... isn't MIT usually a little bit earlier? I really hope they break their Saturday trend and release it on the 12th or somewhere 'round there.

And by the 15th, do you mean that's when they'll mail the tubes or that's when they'll put the decisions online?

I think I'm going to do it the old-fashioned way and wait for the mail. It's more dramatic that way. heh

Yeah, I'm tempted to do it that way, too. I mean, come on, if you're accepted, what would beat that adrenaline rush when you saw a tube sticking awkwardly out of your mail box?

matt mcgann updated his blog. apparently they are not into selection committees yet. : (

yeah :(
btw what do the online notifications look like? just a "you've been accepted to/deferred from/denied to MIT!" when you login into myMIT or something??
