EA Decisions

Snively's blog is worth its weight in gold for this stuff. First of all, the posts from the 9th and 12th are good. Secondly, the online letter apparently looks like this: MIT Online Decision Notification.

And here's the link to the December 06 Archive of his blog: Snively: December 2006.

Enjoy. And please don't stress too much.

Yeah, most ED/EA happens the 14th.. that's when my friends are hearing from their early stuff.
whenever's fine, lol. what happens happens.

I know that I'm going to check online. I won't be able to stand the heartbreak of not seeing The Tube. An electronic deferral is far less distressing.

I guess. Here's the thing, though- my parents recently finalized their will (or something along those lines) and got a 3 inch binder in the mail today from their lawyer. Obviously, the thing couldn't fit in our mail box, so the mail man just put it on the ground near our mail box. So now I know exactly where the tube will be if I get one.

I think I'll probably succumb and check my decision, but not right away. Part of me still likes the romanticism of post.

I'll be checking obsessively. I'll be in NYC at Columbia (Science Honors Program, for those of you from the NY/NJ area) so I'm probably going to be begging my teacher to borrow their computer for a minute. Either that or I'll be rushing down to the NY Public Library to sign onto a computer and get it that way. I'd rather not wait.

I might actually be scheduled to work then, so that would delay things, too. I'm just hoping to get the 2-10 shift. If there is a god, please, please give me the 2-10 shift on Saturday.

I have prayed more in the last 3 weeks than I have in the last year combined- and I go to a Catholic school. That's saying something, especially considering I'm agnostic. I can just see my deferral addendum now:

Dear Admissions Committee: For your information, I desire to attend your institution so badly that I have actually begun to request aid from possibly nonexistent entities. Please, please accept me. Sincerely, Me

And la montagne, I hope we both get in early. It'd be awesome to go to school with you. (and considering how many similar schools we're applying to, it could happen)

Lol. I'm definitely checking online. Same reason as LesOs - It would be much less disappointing to not get a tube after seeing a deferral letter online.

oh gosh if it's the 14th at noon, i'll be at school... i was at school when siemens results came out, me and my friend couldn't look at the page for the longest time lol... then we started screaming and caused a lot of commotion :D

Eeeee! I feel liked! It'd be awesome to go to school with you, too, ducktape. (By the way, you have an absolutely awesome SN. =D)

Haha, thanks. I'm a big fan of the stuff.

Hey, here's a question for everyone- which side of campus would you live on? I'm definitely thinking west. I actually really like Baker.

And pwaffle, I had that day off for some reason. Trust me, it would have been worse sitting at home twiddling your thumbs all morning, only to get nothing.

There's no way they'd do it on the 14th at noon. 14th at 5pm, maybe, but that would be a major break from recent tradition and would be rather Ivy-esque.

From what I've heard, I've been thinking west too. I kind of like MacGregor (one of the more social entries) or Baker or BC.

I hope decisions come out either on the same day as the Ivies' or before; I'd hate for all my friends to know while I'm still waiting...

Haha, those are my top 3, too! I'm a sailing recruit, though, and MacGregor is about as far away from the boathouse as you can get. I'm lazy when it comes to moving, regardless of what my other athletic activities might tell you.

I'll actually be doing physics problems at a regional competition that Saturday morning, then I'm off to the library, avoiding Gmail if at all possible =/

I'd bet post counts on who gets in and who doesn't, based solely on latest chances threads, but of course I'd be guilty of procrastination.

Don't worry, ducktape, there's a shuttle that runs all around campus and stops right outside MacGregor. :)

I don't look at Chances threads anymore. I'm not THAT much of a masochist.

They (Chances threads) make me feel so bad about myself. I'll not disclose the exact reasons, because leaving it to the imagination of fellow hopefuls is more fun, but let's just say I applied not with any intention of getting in; rather, I applied with intention to go if I somehow got in. Now, God's grace has never been with me, nor am I graceful to begin with, nor do I have God to begin with...it's all on me, and common sense dictates that this is a bad thing. So be it! That said, I am curious as to how politely this community will respond...I may come back with an alt several days after this post has been forgotten and ask after my chances to see what people have got to say--and whether or not it is nice! I'll be grading y'all on it, so no scoffing (and if you think my sometimes standout tone and voice will remain in said post...think again).

If I get in, the first thing I'm going to do is turn up my Venetian Snares really loud and listen to Hajnal. Then I'm going to get down to the See's Candy in the Mall and reward myself with several pounds of dark chocolate. Then I'll make phone calls to brag. You guys will be the afterthought. Yay!

i rather like simmons hall, because it looks so high-tech lol.. baker's nice too

i like this picture: http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/life/the_mit_campus/2.jpg
it looks so architecturally challenging, reminds me of the fountainhead ^^

I think I'd probably want to be in MacGregor, judging from cool people I know who have lived there, though I have only been inside a few times... - hehe la montagne, that would be so cool if we both got in and lived in the same dorm :). too bad getting in is so hard :-(.

yeah chances threads SUCK. it's like a surefire way to depress myself, go read the chances threads, and then cry. lol. not quite, but you get the idea. people on CC are so amazing.... I really hope MIT knows the context of my school, and can judge me based on that... I can not compare to a lot of CC people :-( haha.

I'm always at piano classes on Saturdays. Good thing there's a music library at my music school, meaning there's internet!! :-)

=D I LOVE THE FOUNTAINHEAD! 'Cept when I think of that kind of architecture I think of harsh efficiency; that building looks so confusing. There are these apartments in Montreal that I've seen a few times that really remind me of the Fountainhead, though. But yeah. Happiness.

If you want to be a REAL masochist (like me?) then go and read the EA decisions threads from '11 and '10. :/

The old EA Decisions threads actually give me a bit of hope- stats wise, I'm in the range of people who were deferred / got in. Actually, the fact that dally got in (for those of you who haven't been on here too long, she really, REALLY wanted to go) gives me hope.

Eh, whatevs. 10 days.
