Yeah, I have a 30 dollar pair that I got at Costco and I'm wearing them right now. Nice and toasty. I doubt I'll get them for Christmas, so what I think I'm going to do is save up and them buy them at the end of the winter as my early graduation present to myself so I can bring them to college next year (MIT or UChicago, just like most of you)

I think a lot of us are at the middle top of UChicago's applicant pool and average in MIT's- not to say that UChicago is a worse school (not by a long shot), but just that we're the type of kids that could write compelling essays that would convince the UChicago adcoms we belong there. I'd be curious to see just how many people do early to both and end up getting rejected by MIT and attending UChicago. That'd be interesting to look at.

Oh, yeah, and I stupidly set December 15th as my personal deadline a while back to get all my essays done. Meaning, I will find out whether I get into my top choices right after I finish my other apps.

Why are you hating on the Stanford app? ;) It's actually one of the easier ones, especially compared to the UChicago "uncommon" monster...

I actually used to have a small collection of cardboard tubes in my closet, but they have long been lost to antiquity. Perhaps "collecting tubes" should have been one of my ECs? Although if I'm lucky, I may just find one at my door next week.

If I don't get into MIT but I get into Chicago I might still apply elsewhere. Though I definitely liked my MIT essay better than my Chicago essay...

I hope things just stay simple and I get into MIT early and don't need to apply ANYYYYYWHERE else. ;)

@ ducktape
Yesterday, I got the mail and there was a brown cardboard TUBE addressed to me! It looked just like the tube in snively's blog (which you have previously referenced - yes, that snively, the "notorious blogger" who might have blogged his way in to MIT last year). Alas, it was my band photo!

I'd say I like my Chicago and MIT essays equally, though they're really not even comparable considering I did #4 for UChicago.

I'll still send in my apps to HYP no matter what the early outcome. Doesn't hurt, and since I haven't visited, who knows, maybe I'll hate MIT's campus or something.

... right.

@neuron. Haha, that sucks.

EDIT: And I seriously would not have been surprised if Snively did blog his way into MIT.

Haha, all EAers should make a point to NOT order anything that would come in the form of a tube or anything that would require a package pickup around the middle of December.

We could do that, too, but I'm never on AIM. Who here's game for that? I'm iobiojibkid- Io for the moon, Bio for biology, and Jib for the front sail of a sailboat for you landlubbers. I've had it since 7th grade. :)

There are already 2 Facebook groups named "MIT Class of 2012," one of which is unfortunately a joke group. Here's a picture of me I found on it:
