Did anyone receive a merit based scholarship (e.g. high academic achievement) with their acceptance notification? Or are scholarship decisions made in March along with the RD pool. I'm asking because I want to know if I should be expecting something in the future or if I didn't qualify for anything.

hmmm I also would like to know this. I had a couple of schools attach scholarships in the acceptance email, but I feel like a top school with an enormous student body wouldn’t partake in that.

on my acceptance email it said that another letter would come in the mail shortly, and I think the actual letter would probably have scholarship info. At least that’s what happened for a few of my other schools!

I agree with dancer615. The scholarship information will come at a later date. We have had both scenarios: coming with the acceptance an mailed out a week or two later.

Lol. I saw wolverine’s ■■■■■ reject stats and mich give it away with that second one. I’d be a hypocrite if I were to reproach trolls :P. As for everyone else, thanks for the legit info.

Do OOS students get them usually? Also what are the stats of students like? Not asking for an exact requirement value but just the general range of students (eg: 2100+, 3.8 GPA or whatever).

My cousin’s daughter got a $7500/year scholarship (renewable if she maintains a certain GPA). She was from OOS and the scholarship was from the College of Engineering. She graduated from high school a year early with a 4.0 and I don’t know her exact ACT/SAT scores because I didn’t ask. She had taken many APs and took higher level Calc and Physics at a local University because her high school didn’t offer them. She is from a state that isn’t typically represented at U of M and the type of engineering she’s going into is not a common one.

It took me a few reports to kick out these 2 trolling guys. Anyway, there are limited merit aids for oos. But HS GPA 3.8 is not likely be enough as it is below admission average.

I don’t really have a GPA per se, but I have straight A’s throughout high school and a 41/42 for both junior/senior years in the IB Diploma Program (and a 2220 SAT). Is this somewhere around the median of applicants? Or are they all pretty much for just perfect SAT/ACT students…

You do have a chance. Keep your finger crossed. Umich is hoping to increase the financial aid for oos in the upcoming years. Hopefully you will be benefit from it.

I’m OOS, got one a couple years ago. Basically I got a letter in the mail around 3-4 weeks after my acceptance saying I’d been awarded the scholarship. Didn’t have to do anything to apply, and I don’t think there’s any merit scholarships they award that you apply for.
