Earlier than December 15th!?!

I wrote about performing Mahler Symphony No. 1 at music camp. Does anyone here like classical music? I know there probably aren’t any music majors here since few audition for early decision…

Actually, I guess a better question would be one asking you all what kind of music you like to listen to…

and @ross25 - MODERN FAMILY FTW! no one else at my school has heard of it…

Our school is on a trimester system. We have to tackle 1984 and Oedipus in the spring…and every other year, the English teacher makes the kids form their own…cult? I don’t know, but we have to follow a set of rules and wear an armband. The rules are ridiculous, like no talking to lowerclassmen, honking in the parking lot before you leave campus, if anyone says CPSOC, we have to say “huzzah”. There’s like, 25 rules. It’s ridiculous, but fun. Last one standing (it’s a three strikes and your out rule) get 10 extra credit points.

@ross25: All that for only 10 extra credit points?

@Teeannwhy: I have a range of musical tastes, spanning the spectrum from Breaking Benjamin to Basshunter. My current favorite artist/band is Owl City.

@Teeannwhy
My TV viewing has diminished significantly the last 3 or 4 years because of homework, extra ccs, and sports. But the two shows I will absolutely not miss are Modern Family and Chuck.

@cclolz: my newspaper has around 50 staffmembers

Ahh Oedipus is so strange! There are two AP english teachers at my school and I got the one who just makes her students read and annotate like crazy, so we’ve already had to read Invisible Man, Great Expectations, The Sun Also Rises, Oedipus Rex, Antigone, Heart of Darkness (hardest book I’ve ever had to read haha), Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Streetcar Named Desire, Jane Eyre, A Doll’s House and Pygmalion. It’s crazy!! Right now I should be reading Anna Karenina and studying for two AP psych tests, but I’ve done nothing because I am too distracted by my nerves!

@ross25: OH MY GOD THAT IS AWESOME. I understand why. It all has to do with 1984, which was one my my favorite books that I’ve read and studied. It’s so interesting. I hope you like it as much as I did. I wish my teacher had done something like that.

If and when we get in we have to have a Northwestern Law and Order SVU viewing together! My favorite show, too! I’m gonna guess that its not happening tonight. I would bet 5:30-6:00PM cst. 6:30 est. probably around 5:40-5:50.

Wow… I can’t believe you all love SVU tooo!!! That is my ALL. TIME. FAVE. show!!

But I liked Casey… in my opinion she was the best ADA. and did anyone watch the “More Than Just Partners” marathon yesterday?

@BLJ
It’s a ridiculously hard class. Of the 19 years he has taught, only 4 have gotten solid A’s.

@imallsmiles
I saw the class two years ago go through with it, it looked like so much fun. Only all the other teachers got really annoyed with it because of the rules that sort of disrupt their class (like standing on the desk top when the bell rings). I’m excited. I guess everytime they do that, “concerned” citizens always go to the school board about it.

@mooble
I would so go. And I think the window for today has closed.

I really can’t go through this madness anymore. It is not healthy. And I haven’t gotten anything done =(

Wow. This thread doubled over the course of 12 hours.

@ BLJ One of my friend’s brothers graduated from my school maybe 3 years ago? And he had a 28 on his ACT and got into NU. So don’t sweat it; he was nothing spectacular. He didn’t play sports for them and he was your average Caucasian. I’m not sure which college he went into though.

I’m the only EDer from my school; my other friends who want to go there are just doing RD, and thankfully because I don’t want to be compared to them. But I kind of feel like the guinea pig. :/

I just got done with my A Tale of Two Cities reading for AP Lit. Our teacher is terrible too. No one is getting an A in my class.

Ahhh holy wow. I’ve been super busy this weekend and am like ten pages behind. Hopefully tomorrow’s the magic day! :slight_smile: Ugh and tomorrow morning I see the cast list of my last play with my favorite director. :frowning: Let’s just say tomorrow is a HUGE day for me.

I accomplished something!! I finished reading my AP Psych chapter and made flash cards! I am sooo proud of myself right now. I was also supposed to find an example of satire for my AP Lit class and this is what I found. If you’re stressing, watch it. You will laugh.
@MimiSD: I totally feel your pain. Tomorrow the soloists for our Christmas concert and performance in NYC are announced. Entirely too much anticipation. Best of luck with the cast list AND NU!!

We have a ways to go to catch up Stanford, their SCEA thread was 319 pages long.

crytal- heart of darkness is terrible. i read it 2.5 times, read the sparknotes, and didn’t even understand it! it sounds so much better than it is haha.

im reading oedipus the king right now

ahaha @citylove

that was hilarious! thank you

@smiles Thank you! You too! hahaha. AHH. And don’t you feel like it has the potential to be the best/worst week of your life? And even if you were to get one, but not the other, it would pretty much negate your happiness?

@Mimi: I couldn’t possibly have said it better myself. I was just cast as Miss Hannigan in my school’s production of Annie and I have the soundtrack on right now. I’m listening to “Tomorrow” right now and it makes me want to punch the happy little redhead in the face. Seriously. “A day away” is entirely too far away right now…

I just checked the syllabus for my English class…and Heart of Darkness is one there. From what I’ve been reading, it sounds like people don’t like it. There’s also Metamorphosis, Elephant Man, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovish, Lord Jim, Siddhartha, Remains of Day. On top of all of that, we have to read at least 4 books from one author of literary merit and write a book report by May. THat’s just gross…

@citylove
I accomplished something too! I just finished my Calculus and Physics homework. But now I have an essay to write and it’s late already…there should be a no homework rule on Sundays…and that was hilarious!!!
