early acceptance, multicultural weekend

ohhhhhhh, i really want to go!
im actually considering skipping prom... haha, not. welll... i don't have a date yet, so who knows.
but do you think they would still pay if i came a day late?

ps. im white/asian and i got invited. i think it's just a convenient way for WashU to show the spirit of the school.

congratulations all of you!

I just got one today!!! I'm positively stoked!

woooo!!! i totally did not expect this...

came home today and there it was..a priority mail on my desk...

im very very excited...cant wait to c you guys at multicultural weekend!

What is the multicultural weekend? I'm kind of worried now because I haven't received anything from WashU.. is it only for people who applied to Olin? I applied RD to CAS.

no it's for ppl who applied anywhere i think. I applied for CAS.

I think they pick the top applicants or something for the weekend, considering that they're paying for everything

I got my letter two days ago. so excited! my uncle lives in St Louis, so my parents are like GO GO GO GO GO!!! so i'm definitely going to the event

i'm excited too! My friend who goes there now told me to go to this event no matter what, even if prom is during that wkend. He missed his SENIOR prom to go to this and said it was definitely worth it. It sealed the deal for him and he loves it there.

btw, congrats to everyone!

My D received her acceptence letter yesterday. She wasn't considering WU because she didn't believe she'd get in, but so far she's been accepted to 6 of 8 schools she's applied to. Still waiting to hear from the other two. We've visited WU twice and know someone there. My D stayed with her but, I will probably encourage her to go. BTW, we are hispanic.

By encouraging her to go, I meant to the multicultural weekend thing. Sometimes these all expenses paid trips don't turn out the way the schools expect. We visited Carleton College last year and my D loved it! However, after applying to Carleton, they flew her out there, all expenses paid. She stayed 3 days and came back not liking it anymore. She thought the kids were too "quirky." Not a bad thing I told her but still, the opportunity to see the school a little better backfired. It's still a GREAT school though.

omg yayy!! it's the same weekend when i'm going to WashU already. see you guys there then~

actually, nevermind. the interview weekend is in March, not April ): oh well...i'll still get to meet future students.

well i just filled out my registration, hope to see you guys there!

btw, is this weekend a fairly new thing? because I haven't heard about it before...

and if this weekend happened last year, approximately how many ppl were invited and went?

Question: Is April Welcome the same thing as Multicultural Weekend?

multicultural weekend has been going on for some time. you only hear about if you get into WashU.

go if you can, because that weekend is the Thurtene Carnival, the largest and oldest student run carnival in the country. that's actually one of the reasons you're invited: to go to the carnival. you also get an awesome tshirt, live in the dorms, basically getting a taste of washu life.

has anyone received an e-mail or their tickets after registering online

My D received her confirmation in a large envelope a few days ago. If flying out there, you will receive your ticket electronically (if you provided an e-mail address) a FEW DAYS before your visit. Parents also received an invitation and an itinerary (Wash U does not pay for parents' travel/accomodations).

@power@ranger@

i have not received anything either

i got my ticket through email today YAY!

no ticket yet, but a confirmation email address

I'd love to attend only problem is:

1) I'm an American student living in Korea, so I'm not sure exactly how thats going to work out, even though 2 years ago one of my friend's got accepted into WashU and she was able to attend

2) The dates are the 19th-22nd meaning I wouldn't arrive back to Korea until the 23rd. But I have to be in Okinawa, Japan the 22nd because I've got a HUGE HUGE concert performance there and the whole trip is from the 22nd-28th :(

I'm going to call to see what I can get worked out.
