So I was accepted early action, and I think I Really want to go, but to make sure I'm going to revisit day in February. How does the housing placement work? Is it a first come first serve request basis? Do the first people who submit their deposits get the dorms they want? Or do the first people who submit automatically get defaulted into the "best" dorms? I don't want to get stuck in an old building or one of the worse dorms, but I also don't want to submit the deposit before I'm 100% sure I want to go to NEU. Help please?

First come first serve but without getting to request dorms. I’m not sure if they fill up the good dorms first, but I landed an awesome suite in Kennedy (back in the oollllden days when Kennedy was the coolest) and I remember that I and all my roommates had sent in early deposits, so it can’t hurt.

Old buildings aren’t much worse than new ones anyway. They’ve all been renovated. All have a pretty equal number of mice. Not IV yet, but they’re coming. The worst dorms at NU are no worse than your standard college dorm at any school. You aren’t going to be living in a moldy basement with broken windows and the permanent smell of beer and old take-out. At least not until you move off campus!

If you are pretty sure you want to go, you should submit your deposit. Just think of how many other EA acceptances who are also trying to make that decision right now. That’s one reason why it’s better to apply EA than RD-- housing deposits.

i just sent in my housing deposit. it didnt say anything about my dorm preference. do i not get to pick my first choice dorm?
