Early Decision Applicants

Hi SuperXX!!

And congratulations, emohlee! I’m pretty sure you’ve been accepted :)

I wish I had the chance to visit MHC, but the virtual tour and the other pictures proved that the campus is really beautiful. My dad gave me an “ok” list of colleges to check out a couple of months back, and mount holyoke stood out for its wonderful campus. Plus it’s located in a suburban neighborhood. I’m just sick and tired of skyscrapers and cities  and of course, because they have a good science department.

I hope your theory C is correct, MaxRide! I can’t imagine myself in any other college and I don’t like thinking about not being accepted. It just makes my tummy turn. I’ll probably fall into some kind of depression if i don’t get to go :(

I’m going crazy waiting for the admission’s response, but high school has given me so much work and I don’t have any problems with distracting myself. I usually doodle to calm myself down, but I just end up drawing something mount holyoke related, so it doesn’t really help.

I think I’m the first student in my school to apply to a college outside of our country, so my guidance councilor was pretty excited. He was a bit confused about the common app, and freaked out when he found out he had not submitted my forms on time.

I wrote an essay about a friend with cerebral palsy (a bit worried because it sounds too cliche) and choose the childhood short answer.

Do any of you know if they accept students even without the midterm report? It’s all i’m missing and I hope it doesn’t delay the college’s decision to accept me (or not). And sorry if this response is so long, haha :)

@Pipermaru, I’m pretty sure that you don’t need the midterm report untill they become available from your school, like after your first semester. But if you’d really like to be sure, the admissions office can help if you call :)

thanks Hanz  I think my midterm is available already, but my guidance councilor is unavailable at the moment. I think i’ll just e-mail them :)

@SuperXX - Where are you from? Are you an international student?

I’ve never visited the school physically but I’ve watched the virtual tour and pretty much every youtube video about MHC. So I have a rough sense of what it’s like in my head. I really hope I get to see it for myself one day… :)

Not to ruin the mood but if you guys get deferred or, god forbid, rejected, where else will you apply?

I’ll try applying to Smith, but I think i’ll study in local universities here if I don’t get accepted anyway. Smith is nice, but i’d rather be with my family here if i can’t attend mount holyoke. you?

@MaxRide94 Yes I am an international student from Africa. I hope all works out just fine for all of us.

I’ve already applied and been accepted to the University of Alabama so I’m not going to stress out too much if I’m deferred. I also applied EA to Ohio Wesleyan University. And I’m probably going to try my luck at the College of Wooster, Grinnell, Yale-NUS and Lafayette.

I totally understand why you would want to stay in your home country. I’m applying to Yale-NUS in Singapore solely because my mom wants me close by.

@MaxRide, I applied to the College of Wooster too!
I also applied to Binghamton university because my parents made me apply to a state school. But hopefully for all of us our other schools won’t matter!

For the common app essay I wrote about my experience working with somalian immigrants and visiting an orthodox jewish temple, though I am not jewish, and how I have come to love diversity. I know, it is kind of weird, but I put a lot of work into it haha. For the supplement I did the essay about what drew me into Mount Holyoke. Has anyone else gone through the listing of clubs on the website and just gotten way too excited? I have also watched basically every youtube video :)

@emohlee12345- Your essay sounds AMAZING. I would love to read it someday. I used my essay to talk about how I always find myself at the Bangkok airport. And my supplement essay was pretty much on the same topic as yours.

I totally get your excitement about the club listings. I want to join the glee club, CAUSE, crew, sailing, debate, the newspaper and a bunch of other clubs. I think MHC students are rather spoilt for choice when it comes to extracurriculars.

Completely random, but is anyone else interested in studying abroad? I would like to study somewhere in africa or maybe india :)

I would love to study abroad in Istanbul  but I know it’s a little tougher for my major :/

I would love to study abroad in France. It’s unlikely because I would have to take a LOT of French to be considered proficient in the language but I’ve always wanted to go there.
@Hanz11 - If your major becomes a problem, maybe you could try going there on an internship?

I think I would have to either go for an internship or go with a summer program, but either way I really really want to go abroad!

I have only applied to Moho so far.

I would love to study abroad in either London or China. I would have to study a lot of Chinese.
SuperXX, I also only applied to Mount Holyoke. :)

Do you girls think we should call them to ask about when they reply to us? Because if god forbid ED 1 does not work we need to start getting ready for other schools? What should we do? Are you sure they answer next Friday?

@superxx I was thinking that too! That’s a good idea… Because for all we know they might not let us know until after Christmas!!! XP and hurricane sandy could have also delayd the process… So It would be great if we find out exactly when we will be notified :/

Do you think we should email them or call? who is up to do that? or should we all do that? If it’s after christmas it’s really bad we won’t have time to prepare for Plan B in case something goes wrong.
Going back to the financial aid link all of you guys got it? Am I correct?

I think we should. I am so nervous, and finding out batch 2017’s ED acceptance rate was 49% didn’t help… aahhh butterflies in my stomach :(
