Early Decision Hopeful

Hey everyone! I’m nervous to find out my decision for American, anybody know what day the announcement is going to come? I applied ED and am really hoping to be a part of the Class of 2018!

Supposedly sometime next week? Admissions tends to send them out before the office closes for the Winter Break season. I’m on your boat, buddy. Good luck!

Did anyone else applying early decision I get an email from their rep asking for their senior grades? I had to fax my 1st grading period and current grading period grades to my rep. Did anyone else get asked the same thing?

I’m not sure if it’s a good- or bad thing!

GMG2255

Are you on the bubble?

My son’s guidance counselor asked if he wanted them sent in. Grades are the weakest part of his application (foreign language - ugh) and he did fine, so he sent them without being asked. So can’t help you there.

My gut says that if your first marking period grades were good, it can’t hurt you.

What do you mean by am I on the bubble?

Do you feel confident about getting into AU, or are your grades/scores/EC’s borderline?

They’re not neccesarily borderline but I’m not over qualified either, just an average student to AU’s standards. But if no one else got asked to send their grades then I’m assuming it isn’t a positive thing.

GMG, don’t over think it. If your first quarter grades were good and you were borderline, maybe it’s what put you over the top. No sense putting negative energy out into the universe.

My son exchanged emails with his admissions rep a couple of days ago. I don’t think I’m betraying any confidences if I post here some of what she said:

“Don’t stress. I told you I will get you the decision that is most appropriate for you and that worrying just makes this process more stressful than it should be. Relax, there is nothing else you can do at this point… enjoy the holiday season with your family, and you will hear from me very soon.”

Hi I applied early decision and am so nervous I can’t even sleep it’s all I think about I hope I get accepted ahhhh anyone else?

It is by far my top choice. Hope I’m given the chance at AU. It is tough to sleep thinking about this.

how many people do they reject ED?

I applied ED too and I can’t wait to hear back and the acceptance rate is north of 80% so we all have high chances

Knowing AU I personally believe that they would accept all ED candidates if they believed everyone was a good fit but knowing that there are obviously always denials, I did some math from last years ED stats, saying 585 applied ED and 80 % were accepted, 117 are not accepted

I’m also an ED hopeful, hoping and praying to receive some good news from AU soon. It is my top choice by a mile, I love everything about it

We should be finding out next week ahhh!!!

this actually shows that less than 100 people were denied last year

I have showed high interest by emailing back and forth with my admissions officer and met with her at my school and stayed after the meeting and talked with her one on one. In addition, I went to preview day and flew all the way from CA just for that. I also worked on my mayor’s political campaign and he wrote me a letter of recommendation and talked about my interest in policy and government. I applied as a political science major and wrote about my passion for politics and how AU will give me the opportunity to make a progressive difference in the country. Also mentioned being a political “wonk” in my essay. 1210 SAT (1820 SAT) and a 3.1 GPA (I know on low side but thought everything else would make up for it) from one of the top college prep high schools in nation, with upward grade trend. Any thoughts?

You sound like a great fit mountzion! Good luck everybody!

That’s normal most colleges like to see what your grades are currently before they make a decision. I applied before my trimester ended so my college counselor had to send my grades in. Goodluck :)

I’m so nervous for decisions to come out!!! Can you get deferred to regular decisions if you don’t get in?
