Bowdoin, undiverse? I don't think so because last I checked they have ~30% students of color. It's still a big number when you compare it to the fact that Maine is the whitest state in America. And I would be happy to go to Bowdoin too if they offered me a great package. I would be eternally grateful :D.

Oh, and I think I should start a Bowdoin Experience thread.

If you see some of the college guide books, even the ones that were published very recently, Bowdoin got a C in diversity. A student there said, "Bowdoin is much more diverse than it was in 1794, but it’s still mostly middle-class white kids." It's getting better though and I am so glad that they are making great efforts to fix their problem.

Hm.. interesting, I'll have to look more into that, I guess the numbers can lie. I think Bowdoin struggles in the diversity departments like many other NESCAC schools.

We can reveal the truth during the 4-day stay @ bowdoin.. lol It will be a great chance to experience/explore the school in general instead of a day's quick visit.

Yeah, I bet it will be amazing. Although, I am a little shocked that its from Thursday-Sunday, its almost as if they want us to see the academics first and then the campus culture on the weekends :D.

Laceyk, the guidebooks would be based on out-of-date info. Bowdoin rates high on the diversity scale, with 35% minority in this year's first year class . .

I double-checked and son's was dated 3/16. The letter said: "We are still involved in the process of selecting more candidates who will be invited to join you in the next entering class."

nah.
i got in ED and it was a very skinny envelope.

I mean I didn’t apply for financial aid, but all that they had in the envelope was a folder with the acceptance letter, a decal and the confirmation letter inside. It was quite skinny.
