..ugh....just take bart or a car.....and if you dont have a car, take bart and get a taxi from the bart station that goes the most south (probably SFO stop)

wow what a hassle. tell ur bf to pick u up lol

It makes more sense for him to come to Berkeley (there is more to do, the weather is better, the people are more interesting, etc. etc).

You may consider meeting in San Francisco. He could take CalTrain up to the City and you could take BART.

Lol, I thought this going to be about a transfer method from Berkeley to Stanford.

meeting half way lol brilliant idea ^

It is much more fun for him to come to Berkeley from Stanford, just because there's nothing at all to do down there.
Anyway, it's not too bad; I know one girl whose bf went to Stanford, and they alternated visiting each other every two weeks.

Take BART to the Millbrae stop. This will involve one transfer, two transfers if the red line isn't running (it stops after like 6 or something, and worse on weekends). Then take CalTrain from Millbrae to Palo Alto. then take the Marguerite (Stanford bus) for the train station to campus. This will cost about $10 each way, $20 roundtrip.

Meeting in SF is a good idea. Many students from both schools end up in SF during weekends . . . and otherwise, sometimes. :)

sweetdreams87 said it best. I'm a bit fuzzy as I've been away a while and only have used it a few times, but I think there are two places (as in, a second place) where the CalTrain meets the BART.

whee i'm in the same boat-- bf will be at stanford and i'll be wanting to visit.

wish i had gotten more familiar with bart/caltrain etc. BEFORE coming to cal.

Well, most people have no reason to until they need to use it . . . makes sense to me. shrug

Make sure he wants to visit you as well . . . if he's unwilling, something is probably wrong with the situation! But relax, it's fairly easy to make the trip. The biggest thing is the time . . . I would guess 2.5 to 3 hours.

Heh, don't worry about it. Just get the directions on transit.511.org and follow them very carefully your first time, after that, you'll become acquainted with everything and you'll be able to figure things out yourself with the maps and schedules.

As far as I know, CalTrain only meets BART at Millbrae. But meeting up in SF is a really good compromise, and then you guys could BART over to Berkeley after playing in the city. It's A LOT easier for people from Stanford to get to the city because it's just one CalTrain ride direct.
