East Carolina Nursing

Does anyone know the amount of student that are admitted in the pre-nursing program at East Carolina and the amount of students that actually get admitted to the nursing program?

I don’t see numbers on the website, but I know I have heard them, I am checking with daughter who is a sophomore pre-nursing student.

Admission for the BSN program is very competitive. Approximately 130 students are admitted to the major each semester. I don’t believe they really limit the people allowed to declaring themselves pre-nursing, but the first two years really weed people out.

@moyomomma

you could call the college of nursing and ask. when i did last year i think they said about 600-700 freshmen come with nursing as their intended major. the CON accepts 130 per semester / 260 per school year. you could call and see if they have updated figures for the number of freshman who intend to major in nursing, then do the math. unless it’s changed dramatically, i seem to recall that last year i figured it to be about 35%-40%

Thank you! I hate that you have to wait to see if you actually are accepted to the College of Nursing. Something to consider.

@moyomomma True but I think that is the norm, I don’t really understand how a school could assure that you would make it into the program. ECU uses a points system that takes into account things besides just grades which is nice. My daughter applied last month and we are waiting to hear, but she feels pretty good.

@moyomomma

by the way she got into the direct-admit RIBN nursing program at our local NC community college so we went that route. the plan is to get the ADN/RN in 3 years, then get the BSN year 4 at ECU.

@Wien2NC -yes - doing the CC route is a great way to get BSN.
