To everyone who hasn’t received a call/email yet about an interview: are you hoping for one?

I think mine went well. I felt nervous and like some questions were like… “uhhh… generic answer” lol.

haha, see, I want an interview. It’s just that I am very nervous. I’m worried I’ll totally freeze up and the alum will send in a rec like “please do not admit this babbling idiot to my alma mater.”

Dude talked to me for an hour so I think that means he liked me. lol.

HAHA!! No one will do that to you Hopeful_Underdog! Just relax! It’s super laid-back.

Advice: I tried my hardest to not brag or boast. I think I could have maybe been more confident about my abilities. So I think all future pplz should keep “confidence” in mind.

Good tip Shizzle! And it certainly sounds like your interview went well! Congrats!

But, you never know. I could be the one kid who gets that kind of rec letter, ha. I feel like I’d be okay for an interview for any other school, but Penn! I feel like I’m up against such amazing kids and my interviewer is going to see that I pale in comparison. I feel so inadequate, ha. But, like you said, I can’t go into an interview with that attitude! I need to be confident, lol!!! I don’t know if I can pull that off…

So… people had been posting that some interviews explicitly said that interviews needed to be done/recs sent in by Thanksgiving. Now people are saying that they are receiving calls/emails about scheduling interviews after Thanksgiving. Do you think some regions just set their own personal goals? Could interviews really run into early December?

I’m pretty sure it honestly depends on where you live and the availability of Alums in your area. I live about 40minutes outside of Philadelphia, so I’m almost guaranteed an interview (as I have mine tomorrow). I guess the farther away you live, the less available alums there are and it honestly becomes a dice roll since the alums can just randomly choose.

By the way, I was stupid and didn’t ask what I needed to bring to my interview. What do I need to bring? My friend said to dress for success (obviously) and to bring a resume. Is that it? I assumed the interviewer had access to some parts of your common app to see like your essays and whatnot. What should I bring to my interviewer?

Your interviewer does not have access to any part of you app… and some interviewers want you to bring a resume while others don’t (because they don’t want to be influenced by anything… they just want to judge you as a person and how you interact and communicate your passion/fit for Penn). Your interviewer will only know your name, high school, address and any info you told him/her on the phone I believe.

Good luck! You shouldn’t need anything other than a resume at most. :)

Hey thanks, my friend just told me that, but I want to confirm it.

I’m excited for my interview =D.

am I the only one not hoping for an interview here? (I still haven’t got the call yet)

no… I have mixed feelings. I didn’t want one… then I was like, “but maybe it could help me” and now I’m back to “please don’t call me!!!” ha. If I get one, I’ll suck it up. It’s just that I think I’m only an okay interviewee ha so I don’t think my interview will help my chances a ton and at worst it could hurt my chances (which would be terrible). So if it’s very likely not going to help me out and it takes time and effort, I’d prefer not to do it.

But whatever happens happens and I’ll deal. If I get one I’ll just try to do my best and hopefully it will help me… and if I don’t get one, great!

^I have pretty much the same attitude toward interviews now. I think I’m adept at talking to adults but there is no way for me to show more interest in 45min than in my essays.

That being said, I still need to practise interviews for other schools I want to apply to. It’s good to have practice sometimes.
