She applied 9/20 and Wake received everything by 9/22. Acceptance letter was dated 10/22 but it didn’t arrive until 10/29.
Her stats:
GPA: 3.7 UW/3.9 W

7 AP’s
Editor in Chief of yearbook, great community service and paid internship
Visited twice and interview went very well.
My S was deferred and is absolutely devastated. Wondering if anyone has a feel for how many deferred ED applicants make it out of the RD pool. Assume it follows the acceptance rate for RD in general? He will provide updated first semester grades, will stay in touch with the regional admission director and hopefully will have a strong SAT worth submitting.
I’m sorry @WorriedDad45. I’ve never seen the stats you ask about. Anecdotally, I do know of one student from my kid’s school who was deferred ED last year and admitted in the regular round.
Good luck with the rest of your DS’s senior year and keep us posted.
WorriedDad- sorry to hear it for your son. I saw that your S applied July 3. Did he just now get a response from Wake? That is so long! Do you know when his app was completed with school materials? Hang in there. A good SAT and 1st semester grades could help.
WorriedDad - sorry to hear but a real story with a happy ending. S was devastated he was deferred and then rejected at BC (still don’t get that but whatever). He moved on, and was accepted at several other peers and is happily attending Wake. He loves it and couldn’t imagine going to BC even though that was all he could think about for awhile.
I hope your son gets in via RD. But, if he doesn’t, he will find a great spot and it will all work out.
@WorriedDad45 - I don’t know of a way to get those stats, but you could try playing around with one of the admissions chances algorithms and see what happens when you put in ED vs RD. I tried to post the name of one but my post didn’t pass the moderator. I would be interested in hearing how long it took to receive the deferral once his application was complete, as my son’s app was complete 10/1 and we are anxiously waiting.
Accepted ED yesterday! I applied 9/05 and my school took forever to send transcripts- it wasn’t until 10/22 that they sent everything. Received letter yesterday, 11/01, and funny enough the letter was dated 10/22! I assume that means they already knew their decision prior and were just waiting for school transcripts. I am so happy to be a part of WFU 2023!
GPA (W): 4.32

I was denied today. Application sent 9/1, all materials sent by 9/12. Letter dated 10/29.
School - top private school in the area, top 5 schools in the state. Extremely academically rigorous.
2 AP’s last year, 3 this year
GPA: 3.8 (W)
Rank: Not reported
ACT: 33
EC’s: president of a few clubs, also a lot of volunteering. varsity swimmer.
@ppppp999 I am sorry to hear that news. It sounds like you are at a very challenging high school, had good EC’s, and certainly a strong ACT score that would catch the eye of many good colleges. It is early in the admissions game and I am confident you’ll find a great fit. You’re a strong candidate!
@ppppp999 sorry to hear that, based off your stats I’m surprised you weren’t accepted and now concerned for my chances. Did you interview and if so how do you think it went?
@UNCCharlotte2023 It is highly unlikely that your acceptance would be rescinded given the situation you described… If it continues to trouble you, I would reach out to your Regional Admissions Counselor…
