@Winky1 She said both were up for this year
@toplel, any chance you were on the neuroscience track? That’s what my D wants to study.
Thanks for the info. @cjjellybean
@Winky1 Biology on the Neuroscience track is one of the tougher tracks at WashU. During Bear Beginnings, the undergraduate Biology advisor mentioned that to be considered for it you need at least a 3.6 cumulative GPA to declare for Biology/Neuroscience.
A lot of kids do PNP which is slightly easier according to what I understand.
So im mangomichael. I have a 2.6 unweighted gpa with a 1090 SAT.
Hooks: Im a type 2 diabetic
what are my chances?
but its my dream school. My uncle tells me all about how much fun my grandpa had there. Im applying ED. Does anyone else get the harry potter vibe from the campus?
Hi MangoMichael. if Wash U is your dream, you should apply so there are no regrets. I will say that your scores and gpa are low for the school. I do not know what the scores are for 25% of applicants. Perhaps someone else on the thread knows? I would also be in touch with your admissions representative so that they know you and your specific circumstances.
My son requested an alumni interview and was contacted. He went to the interview and it was a great experience (for him).
Will they be notified through the portal or through USPS? I read somewhere that decisions were mailed (snail mail, not email). Does anyone know if this is true?
For accepted applicants, the notification is made through both the portal and regular mail. The mail notification has the same letter as well as some souvenir items (t-shirt, car window stickers, a mini carabiner, and a cardboard fold out picture of Brookings Hall that can be made into a hat).
I received a letter from a professor this week. I’m applying regular decision and already submitted my app. Is this a good sign?
@aleg it’s a good sign. Which program/professor?
It makes me nervous hearing that some kids have received letter from a professor. My son has not – he applied ED. He did have a full day at WU, including an interview. i attended as well as my sister so we are hoping that helps since his stats are a little low but definitely within range. I was told by that he was all set and that no alumni interview was necessary.
The email was regarding the Global MedPrep Scholars Program. His name was Gregory Polites.
My D got an email about that a while back. I didn’t think it was a personal email, though.
Ok, so I had her check, and she got an email back in September about the Global Med prep program from Greg Polites. She got this email before she applied.
We corresponded back and forth so I believe it was personal.
Good for you, @aleg. Perhaps it’s a different email. If it’s personal, then a definite good sign.
Also, he said he received my information from the admissions department.
My D 's email says that too. It sites his personal email towards the bottom of the letter to contact him about the program, but it was initially sent from admissions. Was yours initially sent from Mr. Polites?
My son is taking the MedPrep class taught by Dr. Polites currently. One of his favorite classes so far. That is a definite good sign for those students in contact with him. He happens to read all the WashU med school apps for colleges in the Midwest as well.
