Congratulations to all who got in!
I’m in Asia and got no news yet. I even emailed them on Tuesday night EST asking when I should expect to hear back, but they didn’t even respond to that :(

I’m in Asia. I expect to receive the email in a few hours.

Yeah i expect to too, during work hours EST today (15th), given how most people have already gotten their mail and that the 15th is the official release date.

@ pschooldad: my younger S just started ( 3rd form ) at boarding school and I would love him to attend a college like Swarhnore! My oldest Son was accepted to several top 40 LAC attending our local public school.
My question is more a scenario:my younger S is having a tough time ( getting C’s at best in ninth grade ) but slowly adjusting and improving. The rigor was quiet different than he was used to( not to mention being in his own) . This year will obviously pull his overall GPA down. The irony is that he would have performed better ( even better than my older S) at public school. Would these upper tier LAC understand the third form as an adjustment year since this same child would have 90’s in his public school? Also, if you do not mind, which BS is your S attending?

Rejected.
1410/2200, no GPA but excellent academics, 750 M2, 720 C
Now another 6 weeks of waiting…

Congrats again to all those who made it :)

Rejected also.

Congratulation to all accepted students !!!

Still no letter in the mailbox in Texas. Very frustrating to have to wait beyond 2/15 to hear anything.

@swatcofls13
I got it in my mailbox from upsp I believe. It’s not a package or anything, just a Swarthmore envelope.
to people who are rejected: You guys must be great applicants to apply to Swarthmore, and I wish you the best of luck hearing back from other great schools in Late March/April. When things don’t end up the way I expected, I tell myself that everything happens for a reason.

Accepted! Student from India. Got a fantastic FA package. Couldn’t be happier! Congratulations to all the other accepted students- I look forward to meet you in fall. Rejected Students- I am sure you will find a college meant for you.

I received my letter yesterday afternoon…and email late in the evening (Indian Standard Time)

Somehow managed to get accepted. Got the letter in the mail, Thursday. West coast.
But I haven’t received an e-mail, yet. They said they were missing some of my FA information. Could that be why?
I probably shouldn’t be worried, but I am. Where is it???

When D was admitted ED1 she first received the email then the letter a few days later. Good luck to those still waiting. D is very excited to be attending and looking forward to meeting all. I would imagine the facebook for 2017 will open up for those admitted soon. My D is getting to know several already.

To those not accepted I hope you can find the place that will be the best for you. Keep an open mind.

Still no letter for our DD in Texas (and no mail delivery on Monday). Very frustrating not to know

But congrats to all those admitted! Our fingers are still crossed (but starting to turn blue )

Seewhathappens,
Call the Admissions Office on Monday. Letters do get lost in the mail. Have your D make the call, obviously.

Thanks momof3sons. DD actually called on Friday after she didn’t get anything in the mail - in hopes they would take pity on her and tell her whether she got in or not. She was hoping since Friday was the 15th, they would let her know. They told her to call back Monday. I imagine the admissions office phone will be ringing 1st thing Monday!

seewhathappens, best of luck to your D! I would think they would release the decision to her by that point since the mail hasn’t arrived.

D called admissions this morning…deferred Disappointing - but at least this way she’ll get to see her options :)

If anyone has any insight on deferral admission rates, let me know.

In the meantime - good luck to all!!

Accepted! International here. Got email on the 15th and FedEx package on the 18th. Also an awesome Financial Aid package. So excited!! Will post stats on the admissions stats thread

Sorry for the late reply - my S received the copy of his acceptance letter to his home address in Northern NJ. The original went to his boarding school in Connecticut.

Nouve55,

Don’t let your S give up because of some C in his 9th grade. Boarding School is different and my S also had issues with his grades when he first started at Hotchkiss (like your S, my boy was at the top of his class before he went to BS). But he got better and better over the ears and I truly believe that top tier LACs do review very carefully how an applicant performed during all of his years at BS and a clear trend showing improvements will make up for lower overall GPAs due to having received low grades in his first year in BS.

All the best to you and your S and don’t even think about compromsing and settling for lesser challanging LACs.
