So after going to orientation I think the walk up and down the hill multiple times a day would suck. I also hear that taking a bike is virtually useless because of coming back up the hill. So I am down to two solutions after all the researching and I hope some people can chime in a little on this. The first solution is putting a BIONX Electric Motor on my current bicycle. It is nice, small, and inconspicuous to get around campus and it can take your peddling and then multiply it by up to 400%. This doesn't seem as good of a solution as the second thing, a go-ped standup electric scooter. I don't want to look like a complete tool so I figure a nice stand-up scooter that goes 20 mph and gets 8 miles per charge should work out fine. Also because it is electric there would be no registration required from the DMV and it would be very easy. So what do you guys think, electric bike or electric scooter? BTW I am living in Hedrick Hall and at orientation the only way we got there was by taking A LOT of stairs, does anyone who goes to UCLA know if there is a way to bike down the hill?

wow. if you want to pay for that, more power to ya...

most of us just suck it up and walk. it's not that bad once you get used to it (i lived in hedrick summit last year so i know exactly what you're talking about).

there is a way to avoid the stairs. just walk up de neve drive and go all the way around to the front entrance. longer, but no stairs. and also more peaceful since less people go that way.

i would be more worried about having something so expensive and nice looking and hard to lock up. if it gets stolen, you're outta luck. and besides, you'll only be living in hedrick for one year unless you choose to live there again. and one year is totally doable, not to mention it's a good exercise. and this is coming from someone who abhors exercise and detests stairs and hills. i survived, so can you! :)

or you can wipe out your bank account and buy that scooter thing. honestly i think the bike is better (assuming it's cheaper) because it's easier to lock up and most people won't realize it's not just a bike so they won't try to steal it.

walking is the best way, get some good music and you'll be in class in no time

Unless someone grabs you from behind and drags you into a bush to rape you because you didn't hear them, then you'll be a little late.

If you hate the trip that much, then just plan on going up/down the hill once a day. Some idiots do multiple trips up and down the hill and they dare to complain about it.

yah... you'll learn to manage your time better by planning your classes in one straight block, or learning where to hang out on campus to avoid going back and forth to the dorms.

i spent a lot of time in the franz computer labs just killing time. or sitting out by the royce fountain. it's a nice campus, you'll be spending more time enjoying it.

and fisico, that wasn't really necessary, was it?

man I wanted one of them sigways, one of my classmate had it and it looks so fun to ride, you don't need to do anything, you just stand there... and it gets you to class... imagine if we all had that... and years later we'll be like the people in Wall-E... haha

you will look rather ridiculous with that thing. i get a little giggle everytime i see someone scootering their way to class (i actually laugh out loud when i see people with those segways).

to be honest, the walk is hard the first week, and then you get used to it. also, there is really no need to walk up and down that horrible hill more than two times a day.

in addition, you will need the exercise after eating all that fattening dorm food.

not much room to carry that with you in lecture halls anyway. you really want to lug that up and down elevators/stairs? its not like you're too good to walk, so just walk.

fisico, that was the lamest and potentially most controversial joke i've ever heard.
