Eligibility for UC Davis Tag

Hello,

I am planning to submit the TAG application this fall. I was looking through my coursework to make sure I have completed all the required courses, and found this website: UC Davis TAG Counselors - TAG Criteria

I was looking through it and saw this, under the College of Biological Sciences section:
h. complete all required coursework stated below by the end of spring 2014.
Mathematics 17A/B/C or Mathematics 21A/B. Students must have a GPA of at least 2.50 for this group of courses. Students must have already achieved the minimum required GPA in the course(s) that have been completed before submitting the UC TAG Application, e.g. if one course from the group is completed at the time of TAG, that course must be completed with a B minus (B-) grade or higher.

So, I planned to take math during the summer or fall of 2014. Since that criteria says it must be completed by the end of spring 2014, does that mean my application will automatically be disapproved since it was not completed during spring of 2014?

Thanks!

The date in that file is for applicants that want to enter Davis this year, in fall 2014. You want to enter Davis in the fall of 2015, right? So add a year to the dates you see. For the cycle in which you apply that completion date will be spring 2015.

Read up a bit higher in that same file and you will see: “meet UC admission requirements and complete at least 60 semester (90 quarter) transferable units by the end of spring 2014.” Clearly they are talking about applicants who want to start at Davis this fall.

The general rule is they want you to have completed all your courses by the end of the school year before you enter the UC. You can’t take required courses over the summer prior to entering a UC in the fall. If you look up the transfer requirements you’ll see this applies to applicants in general, not just the TAG program.

Thank you for the clarification mikemac!
