don't worry about the dvd. I am not sure whether or not you applied ED, but if you did, there is no better way to show demonstrated interest.

scarecrow- well, since you spent (or will have spent) all four years of high school in the United States, they will most likely look at your performance in this country. However, it will definitely help you that you immigrated here right before high school.

hey guys
i applied ED I to emory too .. really really nervous right now :(

is it possible to hear from Emory before the December 15 notification?
and if not, what time would the decision show up on the OPUS?

and if anyone's curious, my numbers are
gpa unweighted = 3.43 / 4.00
rank = top 17% [of around 550?]
SAT I = 1500 / 1600 (cr = 700, m=800)... 2230 / 2400 (wr = 730)
SAT II = math level2 = 800
plenty of ec's .. couple leadership positions.

i think my low gpa is killing my chances.
but i feel pretty good about everything else, including my essays.
think it'll be alright?

you should have a great chance for ED if your ec's are indeed good. I have similar stats (3.57 uw/4.0 w and 2260 SAT) and am also worried about my low gpa. However, my ec's are quite strong, as are my essays. So, I think we should both be fine (lol hopefully?).

I think 12/15 is the earliest you can see the decision, and I dont if there even is an exact time.

GOOD LUCK!

hows that for EC's?

hehe and thnx, siri4fun. i really appreciate the feedback!
and GOOD LUCK TO YOU TOO! :)

above average ec's. and thanks.

Decisions in a week and a half!! I'm so nervous. I think I'll start checking OPUS on the 10th in case they send some earlier than others. I'm not good with waiting :)

Best of luck everyone :)

haha rtang I'm not good at waiting either... I check OPUS like every other day because I'm FREAKING out! haha
I submitted my application on September 29th so I'm sick of waiting but I hate that its down to the final few days - its so nerve racking!

Good luck everyone!!!

guys trust me you're definitely not the only ones checking their OPUS daily. I do it too (even though I know the earliest is 12/15 lol) and I'm sure many others also do. btw, anyone else have an early case of senioritis?

yeah i def got senioritis.

oh and i emailed the admissions office and they seem pretty firm about the whole dec15 thing. so im thinking we'll all hear from them then (no earlier, no later). and i looked at past threads and it seems like emory emails you that night b4 saying something along the lines of "you will receive your notification tomorrow at [specific time]. please log in blahblahblah". so just wait for that email haha

good luck to everyone!

I spoke to the admissions office and asked about notification for EDI.
The lady I spoke to said they were mailing them out the first/second week of December.
Not sure why she didn't just say this week and next week..but okay.
She said the online decisions would be available on the 15th.

My guess is we might receive your snail mail letter before or after the 15th depending on our locations.
(i.e People in GA tend to get them before the 15th, obv.)

Hmm.. interesting.

Hey, my friend already heard.

She might have been a strange case, but she told me yesterday Emory had offered her a full ride. So maybe some decisions ae already out?

(She wasn't lying about being accepted, she'd have no reason to do that.)

full ride? hmm i dont think emory decides on those this early...

no my friend got that too--it's different from ed/rd it's just a scholarship thing they do. your friend isn't lying

Emory Questbridge matches were notified on Dec. 1, and depending on EFC, a full ride may very well be awarded.

oh i see i forgot about the questbridge thing. well congrats to her then.

werd. congrats to her.
i just called the admissions office and it seems like they're not gonna stray from the Dec15 date (unlike a few schools, including Ivy leagues, who also had the Dec15 date, but recently reported that they would send out their notifications a few days earlier). the emory office also said that the notifications would be available at 5PM est.

Last year the ED kids found out at midnight the 15th

so which is it? I don't wanna stay up late on the 14th and have it all be in vain. oh btw, today's my birthday lol. just thought i'd throw it out there. you know what would be an amazing birthday gift? and Emory acceptance letter.
