Emory ed class of 2013

ah middnight?? well, im just tellin ya'll what the lady told me when i called yesterday. haha
and happy birthday!! yeah.. an emory acceptance would be an amazing gift. it would be just in time for the holidays too! then i honestly wouldn't want anything else ...almost. been thinkin about a laptop ... haha

I don't know! All I know is if you go to last year's ED thread, they all found out at midnight. So I mean, I don't know if they just say 5PM to be safe, or if they actually will come out at 5. Personally, I think I'll stay up until midnight. Just to be safe.

I'll probably be up anyhow lol..

Haha me too.

yep me too.... prolly wont be able to get any sleep anyway. im just thinking about how much it would suck if I stayed up all night anxiously only to find out I got rejected. then I definitely wouldnt get any sleep lol.

Hey everyone! I just googled emory class of 2013 and found this great thread; I really like what everyone's been saying here. I just looked through all 7 pages of it to see what kind of info I've missed out on. I submitted my ED I application mid-October and am waiting on the edge of my seat. For those interested, here's my profile:

Unweighted GPA: 3.90/4.00
Weighted GPA: 5.40/5.00 (weird scale I know, but basically an A in an honors class counts as a 6.0 and an A in a normal class or a B in an honors class counts as a 5.0)
ACT: 32 (converts to about a 1450/1600 or 2130/2400 SAT)
I've played volleyball all four years of high school and I've got some other good ec's and I'm pretty happy with my essays.
I've visited twice, done the normal tour and the tour of Goizueta, done an interview, and gone to a couple local receptions (I'm from Chicago-suburbs).

Obviously now I'm going to be checking this thread probably every day now that I found it haha so whoever is finding out all of this good information about the decision notifications and whatnot, keep it up! And I'll do the same if I hear anything.

^ well now that you've added certain pertinent info (UW gpa, legacy, from NY) a better assessment can be made....if they can overlook your rank being below 10%, you should be fine for EDII.

edit: if you are male, you should be fine....may be a little dicier if female.....

im like two outside top 10% and yes male

liebs520- your grades are good, test scores average-slightly above average, ec's are pretty average. if your essay are rec(s) were god, you should have a good chance for ED, but it's too tough to call.

afitscher- your gpa is pretty good, your test scores are average and your ec's are good. and legacy helps you as well. if your essays and recs were good you should have a great chance for EDII.

also, not to be a negative nancy (i do like my chances as well as all of you guys with these killer ec's), but what are some people's backups? I'm just wondering because i finished applying to schools a while ago but none of my backups really compare to how badly i want to go to emory, so maybe some of you guys have some good ideas of schools that i could apply to between the 15th and january 1st if worst comes to worst

or, if you all want to stay positive and keep all other colleges out of this discussion until the 15th, thats fine too lol

I'm from California, so a couple of the UC's are obviously good safeties for me (UC Davis). I also applied to Babson College and Santa Clara University. Where do you live liebs?

Liebs520 it's funny you say that because im in the same condition..if Emory rejects me (which i strongly hope not) i really don't know what other school I would be as happy at..But I'm in the process of sending apps to Rice, Vanderbilt and a few other places. Its just a really hard call though, I just want the 15th to hurry up! so we can end all this worrying.

Oxford College is always a good backup if you really want to go to Emory but get rejected. I plan to apply there and to a bunch more colleges (Rice, Duke, GA Tech, Washington U. St. Louis..etc) if I don't get accepted. Rice is also a good option (theit campus is really nice), but it's a little harder to get into than Emory.

alright thanks everyone
incase you were wondering, the schools i applied to are USC, northwestern, michigan, texas, illinois, and indiana (i'm from chicago) and so far i've heard from/been accepted to texas, michigan, and indiana

hey guys, I was just on OPUS and they were requesting financial aid information for 2010. I think there was on cc in last year's class thread that if you get a financial aid request, then that means you have been unofficially admitted. Anyways just thought I would throw that out there in case you all know some more about this.

what do you mean requesting financial aid 2010.... is there a link on opus that says that for the accepted students.....

When you log into OPUS, on the right hand side there is a "To Do List" and on mine it had requests for financial aid information such as 2007 and 2008 tax returns. I just thought maybe some of you guys might have that request as well.

i didnt apply for financial aid...

razer09 - yesterday my OPUS said that my to-do list was completed and right now it has those same FA things
