Emory ed1 class of 2020

Only 82 more hours till we find out!

Hey guys, I have three things not done yet: The FAFSA Application, IDOC Packet, and Parent 2014 Tax Returns. These just appeared on my to-do list recently. The FAFSA and IDOC are done next year, correct? And I have to fax the Parent 2014 Tax returns ASAP?

@Whoosh yup that’s right

@ismitah Thanks! I’m wondering why Emory just now decided to randomly make this appear on my to-do list instead of notifying me the numerous times I’ve called about my application status

It doesn’t really matter because 2014 is just giving emory a estimate on what they can give you. The real package is April.

@Emorylove732 True, thanks. Needless to say it scared me

Turning in the 2014 tax forms does matter for people who need financial aid and are going in ED1 because without an estimate we won’t know what to expect for how much we have to pay. That’s the reason emory asks for the 2014 tax forms, so we can make a relatively informed decision before me make our commitment deposit.

@Whoosh I don’t know the exact answer to that but I can offer this information:

The office of undergraduate admissions has nothing to do with financial aid docs. I emailed them about my own to do list and they politely directed me to the office of financial aid.

The office of financial aid has gotten thousands of different documents and it must be difficult to make sure and place them all correctly as soon as they come in. While it’s only a few days until descisions come out, we will have until December 23rd to turn in our CSS profile and 2014 tax forms in order to get an estimate by the deposit deadline.

I hope I’ve helped!

I believe the deadline was November 15…so my 2014 tax forms are considered really late. Would my financial aid probably already be estimated at this point

Do we really have until December 23rd?? I thought everything (CSS, tax forms, etc) was due November 15. I hope the deadline is December 23rd though…

@Whoosh yes the deadline was november 15th but it says online that after our decisions come out, if we are admitted or deffered, we will have until December 23rd to turn in missing financial aid items so we can get an estimate. That is the last day they will be able to process your docs in order to be able to give you an estimate by Jan 15th, which is our deposit deadline.
I would just send in your doc and hope for the best, there’s nothing more you can really do. @Emorylove732 is right in the point that it won’t affect your financial aid package in the end. At least I don’t think because for the actual package they consider 2015 tax forms and FAFSA, plus the CSS profile but you already have that in.

So nervous! I had posted my stats a while ago but no one really answered. Wondered if I can post and maybe alleviate some of my stress.

@ADJP23 your stats looks pretty good. You’re involved in a lot! It helps that you’re a legacy

Guys maybe the tax return form thing popped up for people who are admitted but didn’t submit the form so they need an estimate ASAP?? Maybe?? :slight_smile:

how many of us are legacies? I’m kind of banking on my legacy status a little bit lol :-S

@pskywalker speculation is such a beautiful time passer :wink:
What about people who already had it completed and it showed up a long time ago? 8-X

@greenway1234
I’m not, I’m actually going to be a first generation college goer in my family but I don’t know if emory considered me a first gen kid. In the country my father got his education from, people went to “high school” until tenth grade and then moved on to college for the last two years and got an associates degree in something rather than a plain diploma. But he never went to university (which is the equivalent of undergraduate study here)
I didn’t explain all of that because there wasn’t space :frowning: I wonder if that hurt my chances

@greenway1234 do they value legacy status a lot?

Do you guys think there is any chance it will be released early? I keep checking anyways

No idea, but the anxiety is getting pretty real at this point. : . I don’t think most if us can handle 3 more days.
