Emory ED1/ED2 Class of 2022

Thank you sir. My SAT1 score is the first one I ever took. I am thinking Emory ED1 and I hope even Oxford College works out for me… Emory Oxford College (at least) Ed1 is plausible right?

I got 4 4’s and 1 3.

@cadet1 @bernie12
Emory’s mean SAT score is 1475,while the median is a 1460. Taking that into consideration a 1410 is low for RD and a little low for ED. However, a great essay could make up for that. You’re GPA and EC’s are great but, unfortunately your demographic won’t help you much.

@cadet1

Some additional thoughts:

  1. The admissions office, like the rest of the university, shuts down for Christmas break. If you raise your scores and want them to be considered, it is imperative for you to let the admissions office know that you're sending your unofficial results first and then fax them with your ID number as soon as you receive them. The official results will not be sent until some time after you receive your unofficial results.
  2. You should self-report the AP scores that are 4's. I'm not sure about the 3.
  3. How would you fulfill your ROTC obligations at Emory College (the Atlanta campus) or Oxford College (the Oxford campus)? The commute between the two campuses is about an hour by car. There is also a free shuttle bus that connects the two campuses. Consider how you would continue your ROTC activities at either of the 2 campuses. Would you train at Emory's Atlanta campus? At Georgia Tech?

Hi I am a girl from the tri-state area.
My gpa weighted is a 4.4
My gpa unweighted is about a 3.75
Im in the top quintile of my class (that’s how they rank us)
I took 2 AP classes last year and 3 this year (chem, art history, physics, AB Calc, Literature)
I have a 31 on my ACT, 32 Superscore
I have a lot of research experience and I hope to major in psych with a pre-med track
I’ve done a research internship at a hospital, volunteering at a hospital, a club leader at my school, youth group member, etc
I’m not applying for financial aid
I LOVE emory and am thinking about doing ED1. What are my chances?

I live in Gainesville, GA

I am not doing ROTC

Since I have a first one-sitting, but a tad low SAT 1,

I am very confident that I have an outstanding, unique essay. Mine is CA prompt #5; it is about a transition from an ordinary student ( just another student at private/public school) to a cadet leader, responsible for 500+ cadets’ welfare.

I have been working on it ( asked many many teachers and counselors) to effectively communicate my feelings as a freshman to a senior. My experience on CA essay mainly speaks about lifelong leadership skills that is applicalbe everywhere and will make changes in the world;

thank you for how I should report another score for ED;

@stoodent
Fairly good chance, I would say a High Match- Low Reach depending on how good your essays are, also being full pay should help tremendously as well. Emory does not superscore the ACT.
Have you looked into the QSS program?

@cadet1 Based on the official academic calendar (see below), the admissions office will be open at the very latest only until December 16th. Your Nov SAT scores probably won’t be reported to you until December 4 at the earliest. You won’t have much time to get those scores to the admissions office. If you’re confident you did better, you might call them after the exam to let them know you’ve taken it again and that you plan to expedite getting the scores to them.

Emory/Oxford superscores the SAT.

@stoodent

Emory/Oxford does NOT superscore the ACT.

Your unweighted GPA and ACT would be below average for admitted students based on last year’s statistics, which are now available on the admissions website but you have a fighting chance if you apply ED1. RD is much more challenging for everyone.

The admissions office will care about what you’ve accomplished through your research – results, presentations, publications, nice rec letter – rather than simply the fact that you did it.

Consider the QSS option with your psychology major. It will expose you to experimental design and quantitative thinking skills that will help you carry out psychology related research and do well on the MCAT.

@VANDEMORY1342 : Get the response from admissions about the numbers (and whether the newest ones include wait-listed and then admitted students), and then make an assessment. If they don’t, the 1410 is fine, if they do, the 1410 can maybe be raised a little I guess (like 1460 or 1470) to make them more comfortable, but it isn’t particularly bad either way. It is within the IQR for sure and if everything else is great, they have as good a shot as anyone else in the IQR. I feel like only those on or below the 25% are at a serious disadvantage and that only those at the 75% have a serious advantage. For Emory at least. If it was some other schools, I would say, even if you can’t hit the 75%, try to get as close as you can as it will definitely help. With Emory, this seems unclear and kind of not applicable However, it may be in that poster’s best interest to at least pull closer to Emory’s 75% in case they are denied or wait-listed

I am applying EDII
SAT I: 1350 - a lot lower than I expected, but my writing score was pretty high (8/6/8)

@ld5176644
I wouldn’t send your SAT score. Being URM will help you tremendously.
However your income is high so your EFC might be high as well. Emory does not superscore the ACT.
Emory- High Match

Hi! I have a sibling that graduated from Emory school of medicine. Does this count as legacy and something that will work in my advantage? Thanks.

@jons12: I doubt it. The admissions processes of each are of course separate. Only GBS and ECAS legacy helps because those are relevant ties to undergraduate entities of the university. Furthermore, it provides a more relevant point of reference to predict what and how you would do at Emory. For that type of connection to work, the sibling would have to be involved heavily in the work of the med. school/university or be a big donor.

Hi guys, I’m applying ED1 for Emory and have submitted all of my application materials. I applied through the common app and my parent and I both signed the early decision agreement on there. However, on the emory application checklist portal, it says I’m missing the early decision agreement. anyone also having this problem or know what I should do?

@madison417
I would just sign it again. It wouldn’t hurt to do so. Also call the admissions office tomorrow to fix the problem.
What are your stats?
