Emory for a Northeastern liberal?

My daughter is applying to Emroy. She knows it's a good school and offers the courses and ECs she wants. However, she is definitely an artsy, liberal type with a strong interest in theater (as an EC or minor). She definitely looks and thinks more funky/trendy than preppy. Is she going to be very out of place at Emory if she gets in?

I have a fairly non-preppy relative who is very happy at Emory (main interest in International Relations). However, for questions of fit , your D should make every effort to visit the campus --overnight, if possible-- before she commits to attending that school or any other. There is no
substitute for first-hand observations in this respect.

She will go for an overnight, but she's found it makes so much difference who you happen to room with. I was trying to get a more "overall" feel fore the student population from someone who may be a student there now. She wants a mix of people - she doesn't want a school where everyone is just like her - but she doesn't want to be considered "on the fringes" either. She is currently in a high school that is super preppy and close to 100 per cent Republican conservative and she is looking for a diverse college.

What part of the Northeast are you from?

northeastern and liberal won't be a problem. preppy might. visit and stay with a student (all tours seemed the same to me)

i'm northeastern, very liberal, not preppy (from a very preppy school)... hopefully i'll be there....!

Hilary, that's my daughter's profile! Are you enjoying iEmory?

haha well i havent been accepted yet... key word there was HOPEFULLY :)
