Emory RD Class of 2022

@Toeupwms

  1. The vast majority live in campus dorms throughout their time at Oxford.
  2. Once students arrive at the Atlanta campus (Emory College) whether as freshman or as juniors from Oxford, they for the most part live in campus housing. Note that there is a Clairmont set of apartments (university owned) that is next to the campus and popular with juniors and seniors. They are modern, spacious and nice. There is a regular shuttle that runs from Clairmont to where the classrooms are. It takes about 5 minutes.
  3. Students at Oxford can get to the Atlanta campus via free shuttle that runs most frequently on Fridays and Saturdays (for obvious reasons) but that also runs on weekdays. Lyft is also popular as is hitching a ride with your buddy who owns a car. At the Atlanta campus, there is a shuttle to Georgia Tech and its plentiful frat parties.

@Toeupwms Oxford students (including freshmen) are allowed to have their own cars on campus.

Accepted to both Emory & Oxford, Merit Scholarship (Liberal Arts Scholarship) for $20,000 per year.

Does anyone know if/when Emory publishes an article that talks about the accepted students? I know a bunch of schools typically have this page where they break down the number of applicants, the number of accepted, and the geographic/racial distribution of the class. Does Emory do this?

Accepted!

33 ACT
4.06 GPA
Acceptances: UBC, UDub, Emerson (with scholarship), CMU (School of Drama, still waiting on Arts and Sciences)
Waitlisted at Tulane
Rejected from Vanderbilt (ED)

Have a friend who also applied and is just as qualified as I am and he got waitlisted. This system is unpredictable. Now we wait for Ivy Day!!

Waitlisted :frowning:
36 ACT, 4.3 UW GPA, extremely strong ECs
showed as much interest as i could - attended two info sessions at my school, sent in an optional arts portfolio after i received an email requesting one. unfortunately could not visit for financial reasons, so idk if they thought i didn’t show enough interest or not.
I’m quite disappointed, Emory was one of my tops. I accepted a place on the waitlist but I’m not hopeful.

@collegetalk1010 : Eh…Emory usually waits to do that, and typically avoids specifics beyond admit rate and some information about geographic distribution (they may tell the top states, and % international). Many schools like to use it to just show off their statistical range. Emory may or may not just provide the mean SAT/ACT and mean UW GPAs for Oxford and Emory admits (no IQR). Emory just does things differently. I kind of don’t like when places do those articles…they just seem like annoying propaganda. However, you can learn a lot about a school’s culture by how the article is written. Some schools just present the numbers and indeed turn everything (including EC leadership) to a number…I definitely don’t like that.

Last year’s: http://news.emory.edu/stories/2017/03/er_undergraduate_admission_applications_record_high/campus.html

Still gimmicky and annoying in many ways but less braggadocios than other places and also highlights that it is trying not to reduce students to or select based upon their numbers.

Accepted to both

SAT I: 1390
GPA (UW): 3.7

Amazing ECs and LOTs
Latino

Best of luck to everyone!

Don’t believe you were rejected with your stats. There must be something wrong with some part of your application: either letter of recommendation or your essay. My d has slightly better stats than yours and has been accepted by Emory, UCLA,Wash Univ,Northwestern and has a likely letter from UPenn.

accepted at Oxford college, waitlisted Emory. when does Financial aid come?

accepted to emory university with a 3.62 UW GPA, a 1470 superscored sat, pretty good essays, no real hook. I think my main draw were probably my EC’s. they are really unique and it probably led them to take a risk on me even with my gpa

Accepted to both Emory and Oxford college.
I gave 2 preferences on commonapp regarding my major, but nothing regarding my major was mentioned in the acceptance letter. How do I know what course has been offered to me?

Did you find one? @Hiddle

@ejdieb : Emory nor many Colleges of Arts and Letters in the US admit by major. You can major in whatever you want as long as it is offered at the school.
