My s is a semi-finalist, although his stats are not as great as all the others on this site. You are all so amazing – way more talented than our generation! My s is thrilled and is v. interested in Emory. It’s all about the money, though. Stats:

UW GPA - 3.82 (now 3.85), IB Diploma Candidate
ACT - 32 (now 33, with super score - two exams)
ECs - excellent, competitive fencer and proficient bassoonist, among others
Essays – I know I’m his mom, but they were really exceptional. That’s what I’m thinking got him into this round.
Good luck to you all!

I applied from Oxford Scholars. I have a low gpa but a high ACT, so we’ll see how that works out. But, importantly: Is it really coming back today? Emory and Oxford College are some of my faves and I’d love to get this scholarship!

Honestly since it is 5 o’clock and we haven’t heard anything, I think she may have given me misinformation??? I also called the admissions office today just to get a second opinion and they didn’t say tonight they said sometime this week…

Emailed and called. The email said tonight and the person on the phone said sometime this week. So two different answers from two different people

Did any other Semifinalists get contacted about an alumni interview? I don’t understand. Since we’re already admitted, it doesn’t have any effect on our admittance. But does it impact whether we move onto the finalist round? Or should I just turn down the interview?

Unfortunately I didn’t get an invite to the scholars weekend It basically said the same thing as the Emory scholars denial letter. As of stats, it said about 750 applied and about 75 got invites.

Because we are trying to book a trip for spring break, I called the admissions office to see if they could tell me when the Goizueta Scholar visits would happen for those who make the semi-finalist (or finalist round, depending on how they handle it this year).

They told me the visits would occur on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of March.

They also confirmed what some folks on this thread posted about the Goizueta list being announced on the 31st.

Hope that helps anyone also trying to plan around Spring Break.
