@Mullenm13
As long a everything is off you checklist on opus, I think you’re good.

Does anyone think we’ll find out about Emory Scholars before January 31st?

I doubt it.

Is it bad if I have no idea what OPUS is? I never got any information concerning it

@lewismaverick
Here is part of the email I received in November:

"Check The Status of Your Application

We encourage you to review the status of your application at www.opus.emory.edu at least once per week. Any missing items and a description of each will be listed on your To Do List. Please keep in mind that the To-Do List will also include need-based financial aid missing information once you have begun that application process. November 1 – April 1 is peak processing time in our office, it may take longer to post received items to your OPUS account.

To access your OPUS account, all you need is Internet access and your Emory network ID and password. To get your network ID and password, please visit www.emory.edu/ITD/newid.html and complete the brief and easy form. You’ll be asked for your birth date and social security number or birth date and email address. Then go to www.opus.emory.edu, login with your network ID and password, and view your To-Do List. If you have trouble accessing your network id and password, please contact the Emory HelpDesk at 404-727-7777. "

I’m sure you can still create an account. But I would do it soon as this is the main communication between you and Emory. This is how you will receive admission, Emory Scholars notification, etc. Good Luck!

Did anyone receive an email saying “Consider Oxford College Too?” I did not check off the Oxford College box on Common App. Does that mean I am NOT in the running for the Emory Scholar as I was rejected and wanted to give me a chance to also try out for Oxford or is this just a formula email? If I was selected as a semifinalist, why would they send this? Just received today.

@emoryorbust

I did not receive the email, but I have already applied to Oxford college as well as Emory college. I wouldn’t get too caught up in the meaning of the email. We will all know soon our fates soon enough. Counting down until Thursday! 5 more days! The waiting is killing me!

@emoryorbust I agree…I think you are over thinking this…

My daughter got that email, too. I don’t think it suggests anything about your Emory decision, though, so don’t worry. It was probably very easy to contact those who had not applied to Oxford and send the email.

should I be concerned if I have never received any emails from Emory?

@SM1LEplz

Not if you have checked Opus regularly, and everything has been checked off your checklist. I received an e-mail notifying me that my application was complete, but I believe it came through Oxford college and not Emory. If you solely applied to Emory, I wouldn’t be concerned. FOUR MORE DAYS!

@Hopes - I’ve gotten that email from one other college before an admissions decision was made. I applied to the school in Sept. and the email was sent when their admissions decision for me was made, however, that decision was unviewable until the date they mentioned on their site.

(Basically means they reviewed your application I think).

@TheBucket - I thought it just meant they had received everything. I have gotten one from all of the college I applied to… but I only have decisions from 3 of them. This whole college application process has made me gain tons of patience. (even if it doesn’t seem like it from this site.) Time to make conversation to pass time for the next 4 days. I’m waiting for 5 more school decisions. How many is everyone else waiting for?

@Hopes

I’m waiting for all my decisions (8), and Emory will be the first one I know. I’m a Californian so half of the colleges I’m waiting to hear from are UC’s.

@SM1LEplz

I also applied to 8 schools. I really loved Emory, but everyone seems to just talk trash about it now… Anyways, I’m going to try not to let that influence my decision too much. What’s your first choice? What do you plan on majoring in?

@lewismaverick I have had the same problem! All the other schools I have applied to have emailed me and sent me login info for their portal, but I havent gotten any contact from Emory. I got the link from a friend, and made an Opus account… they had all my correct information, but I have no clue why I didnt get email from them.

@Hopes - I don’t really have a first choice, but I’m planning to major in biology with the hopes of doing something disease-related in the future. That’s part of why I want to go to Emory because it’s right next door to the CDC!

i didn’t get an email for OPUS either. I had to find the website and create a login myself. I actually had a couple of missing documents because they didn’t send me an email and tell me to check my applicant status.

I didn’t get an email either; after sending in my nomination form my teacher got a confirmation email with instructions for me to make an OPUS account. She forwarded it to me after I asked her if she had gotten any confirmation because I hadn’t.
