Emory Scholars 2013

I’m trying to figure out what exactly we’re competing for, and was wondering if anybody had better numbers to help me out.
I see that there are approx. 150 scholarships of 11k to full tuition available.
30 of which are 2/3 tuition and awarded to semifinalists who are not finalists.
20 of which are full ride and 20 of which are full tuition awarded to finalists.

These numbers show 70 scholarships, but leave out 35 other kids who go to finalist weekend. Safe to assume that the the other 35 also get 2/3, or at least 11k?

If that was the case then the numbers would account for 105 scholarships overall, 30 to semifinalists and 75 to finalists.

Are you accounting for half tuition, or did they change it to 2/3 tuition? A past Oxford Scholar said the increments were 11K, half, full tuition, and full ride, but maybe that has changed. If 20 get full rides and 20 get full tuition, that’s a little under half of the 95 they said that they invited to the scholarship weekend. The others must get 11K at the very least (which I believe only applies to the two years at Oxford) or 1/2 or 2/3 tuition.

Thank you for that info. I made an account pretty easily.
One more question, does everyone’s accounts just show the application to the “Undergraduate Emory College” or is there another section for the your Emory Scholars app?

@missxsilverwing,

I think the numbers you are posting have been changed for this year, the form that we filled out says 75 finalists and 30 of 2/3 for semifinalists who are not finalists. (Note: it also lists 350 semifinalists)

I think I thought I was in the Oxford Scholars thread haha, I was on my phone and I didn’t bother to check which I was replying to. Sorry about that!

Tomorrow is the day. Everyone ready?

Anyone have any idea what time decisions will be released tomorrow? They are really pushing this late January deadline. Tomorrow’s the day!

I know right… all the way to the 31st. I don’t think i’m gonna be a semifinalist but whatever!

Have faith in yourself!

I’m confused about selectivity and accessibility. I already got into Oxford and was awarded a scholarship there, and I’m wondering if Oxford Scholars and Emory Scholars are mutually exclusive? Is there a possibility that Emory will also offer me money as well?

It’s not like I’m expecting it, but I’m just curious. Also, I’d rather go to Emory with money than Oxford, although Oxford is cheaper.

Also, what exactly is an Emory Achievement Award? There are so many names for the awards…it’s so confusing.

Ahh 1 more day! Anyone know if there will be an email too or if we just need to keep refreshing OPUS until it’s up?

Sorry if this has been answered before, but do any of you know if we will be able to see our acceptance decision if we are not selected as semifinalists? Or would we have to wait until the regular April 1st deadline?

Thanks in advance!

caruul- If we’re not selected as semifinalists, I think we have to wait until April:(

Has anyone gotten a decision yet?

Not yet. I’m wonder if they will be released at midnight or later in the day. It’s earlier where I am, so I’m planning on staying up until at least midnight to check.

On the Emory Forum it says evening.

Evening? What time qualifies as evening? 5:00? 6:00? 7:00? I MUST KNOW.
Also, do we find out through opus or email?

What is the link for the Emory forum? and @caruul I know we find out on OPUS, but they may also send an email, not sure

I can’t log onto opus anymore… Link to the forum is on page 4 of this thread.

And now it is… Weird.
