@collegefind1234 Was there an e-mail or tweet ahead of time to let you know the date Scholars e-mails would be sent?
Emory just announced that ED2 will be released Wednesday 2/6 at 6pm. Good luck to everyone!

what about Emory scholars decision?
Guys im worried. Emory said they will release decisions feb 6th but they also request mid year transcript and grades/reports. However, mid year just ended for me in my school and grades have just been sent…It probably wont reach their office beforehand, and by now decisions have already been made. Is anyone in a similar position?
@Jaqin123 i’m in the same boat as you and i actually just called them to ask - they told me that our application was still considered without mid year transcripts and that not to worry about it
does anyone know about past edii statistics? how many applied, how many were accepted / deferred / rejected
I am pretty sure that class of 2022 had a quite a few ED2s. I may have backed into the numbers at one point, but I know it was significant (but not quite like ED1), maybe around 160.
@collegemom9 I got the email too! My first semester just ended near the end of January so my counselor is still trying to finish up the midyear report/transcript. But I guess the decision is coming out regardless?! Half excited and half nervous! Good luck everyone
@bajepe71
Did you explain your GPA in your application?
@hopefully32
Half of the class is accepted ED. Half of the class is 650-700 students. 560 were accepted ED1. That leaves 90-140 students unless Emory decides to accept more than half of the class ED.
@emorynavy @bernie12 Hello, you guys seem to be well-aware about almost anything related to Emory. Do you know if I can apply for the Scholars Program while I’m a freshman or simply attending the university? Or is it only for incoming students? Thank you in advance!
You would apply for the Dean’s Achievement Scholarship which is for current Emory students and gives you the programming and benefits (but with lower tuition contribution) of Emory Scholars. It is unusually hard to get after freshman year because it usually isn’t enough time to develop evidence of real intellectual development (as earning near perfect or strong grades is not sufficient to do this) and a strong EC track record on Emory’s campus. Many do earn it when they apply sophomore year though: http://college.emory.edu/scholars/woodruff-scholarships/continuing-student.html
In addition, many academic departments host their own fellowships and scholarships, so please be aware of that departments like chemistry, history, and environmental science actually have quite a bit, some being almost as big as the DAS scholarship. Emory is honestly one of the better schools (among its peers) with respect to offering fellowships and scholarships to current (and even graduating students). You just have to look in the right places.
@bernie12 I see. I regret not applying for the Scholars Program, but I definitely was not ready to submit the application at that time. I’ll just tell myself that I probably wouldn’t have gotten it to make me feel slightly better I hear it’s very hard even for the top/engaged students to get into the Scholars Program?
@eastcoast101 Hello! I feel as if I’m sort of in a similar situation as your son regarding the recruiting process? May I ask how he did academically in high school? Also I would love to hear about his experiences as a student athlete, and what he finds the most challenging/enjoyable, etc! Thank you
@Rist54 : All you had to do was check a box for consideration. Why didn’t you? Also, if the application was strong enough, they may throw a liberal arts scholarship your way regardless of if you checked it. You speak of “the” top/engaged students. There are too many to count that apply to schools like Emory. Emory has had 10k + check that Scholars box in the past. And generally, many of the applicants who didn’t check it are similar to those who did (the evidence for this is how many of the Dean’s Achievement Scholars go on to win things like Trumans, Rhodes, Fulbright, Goldwater, etc. Basically, these students either didn’t consider a scholarship or were passed over initially. Didn’t mean they were not the top/engaged students. Means they were not selected for whatever reason at that time). Likewise, many who won’t be interviewed are as qualified as those who won’t. With the type of qualifications and volume that Emory sees, there is just going to be luck involved in terms of how adcoms “feel” certain apps upon reading them. Many exceptional students won’t even get into Emory (like they won’t, say an Ivy). People need to move away from the concept that those who didn’t get into these elite schools either “were not good enough” or not “exceptional” enough. There are too many amazing applicants for so called meritocracy (which schools define differently) to be the only deciding factor. Schools think about fit (social/intellectual/academic), and even their rank sometimes (they may only admit top students they think will yield/not get into higher rated institutions, but will ultimately add to their school, or simply boost the schools’ incoming stats). A bunch of things go into it.
You did have to apply by 11/15 so for applicants who weren’t ready to apply at that time, Scholars wouldn’t be an option.
Did anyone else get an email about sending additional dance materials? I sent a supplemental video to Emory in my CommonApp even though I am applying to business, but I just got an email from the dance department saying they’d like me to send more and indicate if I’d double major or minor in dance.
If my midyear report was received 2/5, do you think they looked at it? (ED2)
@atsmmmbp
No
dumb question but will we be able to check our decisions on our phone or is it only on computer (I won’t be home at 6)
