What happens to scholar finalists who attend interview week & are not chosen for scholarships? Are they still considered scholars or are they just regular students at Emory with no distinction?
@oak2maple
UMMM… lol. I guess “regular” Emory student. If that not good enough for your son, it better he goes to a school where he is a guaranteed scholar
No, that would be fine…just trying to understand what this opportunity means.
No good news from Emory today. Congratulations to everyone that got it!
I’ve been admitted to Emory! I’m a University Scholar finalist!
Emory Scholar Finalist! Congrats to everyone who got it! To anyone who didn’t, best of luck in admission!
@“sai.1321” Not sure. Not an admissions person, but I’ll definitely count how many people are there if I attend the event in March!
Any finalists willing to share their stats
Does everyone have scholar weekend March 27-30? Or is it different for each program.
My son is a Goizueta Business School scholar. Very excited for this opportunity. Also do all that attend scholar weekend get some type of merit?
@jftb1020 My child was invited to a different time March 25-28 for Emory Scholars. I also do not know much about this – odds or what the scholarship would be or how many are given. But my child also loves Emory and is excited about the option.
@gigabyte123 When you visited for Emory Scholar, how long were you on campus? Do you know why some Emory Scholar invites are several dates as noted by @kaibab3 and @jftb1020 and some visit dates are only over 2 days earlier that week? Or does it vary by area of studies?
Any type of scholarships are only for those who applied before the November 15th deadline right? So no scholarships of any kind for people who applied after that? I wonder if I would have gotten any scholarships if I had applied earlier. Congrats to those who were accepted early or received scholarships!
@wohawk1819 What dates are you going and for what school!
Admitted! Yay!
@sudania, Congratulations! Can you please post your stat?
Any chance I might get in with financial aid as an international? I was rejected from the scholarship, didn’t receive 20k either.
@rush1 My daughter got the email she’s a finalist for Emory. She has a 4.68 gpa and 34 ACT.
hi @collegefind1234 Thank you so much for answering! She will definitely attend the interview and is excited. The packet said they invited 100 finalists. I was wondering if you knew how many of them will end up getting scholarships and will the rest not receive any scholarship? Thank you again!
I guess I wonder how many of the finalists will end up as Emory students. These are the kids who, most likely, will have their choice of offers from a few elite schools and this money is an enticement for them to attend Emory.
Very few get invited to be finalists and that should not be a discouragement to those who weren’t selected. The RD round is certainly tough, but, at the end of the day, the yield to Emory of these 100 surely will not be close to 100, leaving no difference in the amount of RD admits to be offered. These scholars are the exception and not the rule. If you applied RD, your chances for admission are no less today than they were before yesterday. Good luck.
