@GFORCE2818
Yes 2 years at Oxford, 2 years at Emory.
Did you get into Oxford?

@katnissjul I remember seeing a post from someone last year who was waitlisted at Emory but got into Harvard. So don’t let this decision affect how you think your other decisions will turn out. Also, eat some ice cream. It’ll make you feel better. I recommend chocolate chip cookie dough.

@emorynavy Could you tell me when I can find the financial aid letter if you have an idea, please?

Opus is where you find FA info but it won’t be out until tomorrow at the earliest.

@TheTennisNinja Thank you for the kind words. After a Northeastern rejection and Emory waitlist, this process has really made me question my worth as a human being. I hope that, of these next 7 reaches (Barnard, Northwestern, Yale, Columbia, Penn, Duke, Brown), one of them can give to me what that Harvard kid got. Barnard and Northwestern are Friday. I just hope they give me something. Emory really has me upset, though.

Waitlisted 35 4.65 GPA student body Vice President, junior class president, sophomore class president, 12th in the nation for public forum debate, registered youth magistrate for teen offenses, 4 black belts. Guess my fault was not paying enough money to bribe my way in ?‍♀️.

@katnissjul The reason you didn’t get into Emory is probably the same reason that a lot of people aren’t getting into a lot of schools. Look at the recent admissions scandal. The people who get into these schools now are the Elite (not necessarily academic Elites), athletes and people who fulfill quotas. Whenever you see someone with a degree from an Elite University now, ask yourself if you are sure that they didn’t get their degree because: 1) they were a recruited athlete 2) their parents/grandparents gave a ton of money 3) they bribed someone 4) they had phenomenal connections 5) they fulfilled a quota.

I am at a point where I think the process is rigged, and the schools already know who is getting in almost before RD comes around. If you suspect that it’s rigged, it probably is.

Thanks a lot @collegemom9 !! I’d like to check the FA before my D got excited too much! :slight_smile:

@katnissjul saw your other post where you got some sweet awards from Rochester and Tulane. You have two great options and good luck on the rest. Emory is now uber competitive in the RD round. It’s been getting there and now is definitely there.

@katnissjul : Please don’t do that. Admissions into very selective universities or really any university has absolutely NOTHING to do with your worth as a human being and there is a lot of luck involved (many ultra qualified people will be denied or wait-listed). Keep your head up and recognize that you’ll likely end up somewhat that you enjoy or is at least awesome for your intellectual and social development. Be upset and disappointed, but do not attach your worth to it. If you seriously value these selective universities, just hope one of them works and as another poster reminded you: remember that the admissions at these schools have nothing to do with each other. Your chances here have nothing to do with those places. You’ll end up somewhere great whether it is the schools you listed or not.

waitlisted at oxford rejected at emory rip

Lol everytime I get rejected from one of my top schools: “screw you ____, didn’t even want to go there anyway.” As I try to accept my denial. Besides that, I’m really surprised at how many people on here with very good stats got rejected. Don’t loose hope. In the end, we’re all going to do great things later on.

Something else to note. While my prior post definitely reflects my disappointment and annoyance with this process I am holding out hope for the idea that Emory does Yield rejections. It seems to me by reading this forum that some EXTREMELY qualified applicants got rejected or waitlisted and I am wondering if it is because Emory does not believe they will attend and that they are destined for a different more selective school. So they reject / waitlist them so they keep their acceptance low. Granted all this may be my sad and shocked mind trying to rationalize this but who knows. It makes me feel a little better so imma run with it

Accepted! 96 UW GPA, 36 ACT

@emorynavy My son applied to both Oxford and Emory (he’s a QuestBridge Finalist so they asked him to apply to both.) He’s at robotics right now, so he won’t check until he gets home. He’s not expecting to get in. His stats are lower than all these folks getting rejected and waitlisted.

@katnissjul I’m in much the same situation as you are. Rejected from Northeastern, waitlisted at Emory. Still waiting for some other schools. Accepted to Rochester and its HEAL program and great merit and financial aid. I believe things are meant to be, and I see you have great options as well. Don’t let it get you down. Perhaps I’ll even see you at Rochester, given we both attend. :slight_smile:
