Employment Eligibility Verification

<p>Hey, I just got my mail from the Student Employment Office and it says I've been assigned to work at Dining Services. But since I don't think I will be working (at least this first year) do I have to fill in the Employment Eligibility Verification Form? And if I have to, what do I have to say in the "I attest, under penalty of purjury that I am: a citizen,a permanent resident, an alien.." part since I'm an international. What is this Alien # or Admission #?? I don't think I have such a thing. </p>

<p>oh wow good point! I didn't see that Alien thingy either! We could either call Pton and ask or just leave that line blank until we get there and figure things out.</p>

<p>The Alien # would be your green card number if you have one...
or don't you have a document permitting you to enter the country for college? There must be a number on there...</p>

<p>If you're not working though, I don't think you need to fill that out. Better to call pton and make sure.</p>

<p>Anyway we don't have green cards (atleast I don't) so maybe it's an identification number on the US visa?</p>

<p>They make everyone fill it out bc they think you might change your mind and want to work <em>shrug</em> it makes it easier for them I guess.</p>

<p>No, you're not REQUIRED to, but it basically means you're getting less aid, because you turned it down. But if your parents are willing you to give you all that spending money and you don't financially need to work, no, you don't have to take the work study job.</p>

<p>no not really, if you can find another way to pay the deficit then I don't see why you have to work. I could be wrong though.</p>

<p>I think you have to discuss the specifics with your direct supervisor, but work-study jobs are known to be flexible, and I think most are only 6-8 hours per week.</p>

I was just responding to Sucharita's question about whether or not we all had to fill this out. It's in the letter sent from the Student Employment office and it is at the bottom just aboved the bolded sentence. Hope this helps! :)</p>
