Engineering at Miami?

My son was sent a letter of acceptance to Miami on Christmas eve! None of his friends have heard and they said they were sending him a letter of acceptance because they wanted him to accept and was a high priority candidate! Anyway, does this mean Miami might actually offer some sort of financial aid? He has already been accepted to U of I and deferred at Purdue, but he loved Miami and the size of the school is really what appealed to him! Is there any hope that they would match U of I's instate tuition? The boy really wants to go to Miami and we are so stretched with 2 in college for 2 years and no savings, ie, all loans! Vocemom

I got the same letter on christmas eve! congrats to your son he is the first person other than myself that I heard has got in! I am wondering the same thing because I am OOS.

Miami has those automatic merit scholarships for OOS. You can look on their website to see if your DS meets the qualifications - it’s pretty straightforward - certain SAT/ACT/GPA threshold.

Vocemom: I went to college in Evanston :)

We are OOS and today my youngest received both an acceptance packet along with a separate letter from the financial aid dept. stating the scholarship package. It does match the scholarship amount indicated on their website but it is nice to have it offered in writing. The letter of acceptance also confirmed acceptance into the business school.

He got the letter today and it is more than the amount indicated on the website. It basically matches instate tuition at U of I so I wonder if their admissions dept. are linked electronically!~

Did anyone from instate get a financial info letter in their packet? We got the packet but no page with financial information, not even about the scholarship. I wasn’t surprised by that as I didn’t expect to even get the packet, but now I see that some have gotten a financial letter…

Opps I guess I was too impatient. S got a letter from Miami today giving the scholarship information.
