<p>I am an Indian (not Native American) junior at a New Jersey high school. I plan on going into engineering but I am worried about not getting into a few colleges. Chance me please. </p>

<p>GPA: 3.79 - 3.81 (weighted)</p>

<p>SAT
Math: 590
Reading: 600
Writing: 610</p>

<p>Total: 1800</p>

<p>I plan on taking them again in June. Will most likely be able to bring my score up to around 2100.</p>

<p>Planning on taking SAT II Math IIC - hopefully will get a 650+</p>

<p>AP's:
junior year: AP Calculus AB, AP Microeconomics
senior year: AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, AP Physics, Possibly AP Statistics </p>

<p>Extra Curricular:</p>

<p>South Asian Club - President
Model UN - Vice President

National Honors Society - general member</p>

<p>Cross Country - 3 years

<p>What are my chances of getting into: Rutgers (college of engineering), Penn State, Carnegie Mellon and University of Virginia?</p>

<p>UVA is brutal OOS (in-state too, actually, haha); BRING UP YOUR SAT MATH SCORE especially if you want to be an engineer. Good chances at Penn and Rutgers as of now, but Carnegie and UVA (with your present stats) make me ‘err’ on the side… I wish you the best, though, and I hope you make it into them all.</p>

<p>I can’t say you’ll be guaranteed admission, but if you receive an 800 on both the regular SAT and the SAT II, your chances will increase dramatically.</p>

I am in the same situation as you… i got an 1800 without studying haha but planning to take it again in june and get definitely a 2100+… but yeah Virginias out of state policy is really harsh… Rutgers Carnegie Mellon seems like a good match if your SAT Scores go up… try to aim for a 700-750+ for the Math Level II subject test… you seem dedicated to the Hindu Summer Camp which is awesome and your ec’s are pretty good but not great… but it its a really good start…</p>

<p>HOSA, BPA, Student Council, Soccer, Cross Country, Chess Club, Math/History Club =)</p>

<p>I think that engineering at PSU is very tough to get into.</p>

<p>My SAT scores were around 2100 and I didn’t get into Carnegie Mellon… I think the math needs to be a near perfect score.</p>

<p>Will a 79% average in AP calc destroy my chances of getting into any of these schools?</p>

<p>You could start at one of Penn State’s Satellite Campus and then transfer to Main Campus - this is what a friend of mine did, he is an engineering major now at Main Campus.</p>
