Ok! So I'm worried about the GPA requirements to transfer into Umich Engineering. The minimum required for computer science is 3.5. I have exactly a 3.5 but my saving grace is that in all of my math and science courses I have a 3.8 average. Yes, I have screwed up previously.

How many people transfer into this program? I talk to a lot of people at my school trying to go to Michigan and it seems like they have 3.9 cumulative and all the EC's.

Am I going to be left behind?

A friend of mine got in with like a 3.4 from CC… Given, his major was in one which only required a 3.0. Still though, it’s not hat hard.

You will probably get in. Good luck.

That makes me feel a little better. I go to a community college also and it annoys me how many other people are seemly getting 3.8+ in all of their classes.

Can anyone else confirm getting in with a less than perfect record?

Of the five or so admits so far, all had 3.8-4.0 GPAs, although if you’re a sophomore transfer your hs record could help if it was stellar.

It’s far from stellar and I’ll be transferring as a junior or late sophomore. So what do you think my chances are? Do people get denied with a 3.5?

Thanks.

According to a previous transfer thread, the average transfer GPA is a 3.7, so yes I would imagine many 3.5s get rejected. If you have good ECs and write some good essays though you’ll stand a chance.
