Engineering transfer decisions

I guess I could take calc 2 over the summer because I already have the calc ab credit, but I didnt take a math this year, so theres a whole year gap where I didnt take math, so I’ll need to review lol

So I guess besides the math and sciences, I only need to take english.

@csulbengineer

I actually got in for structural engineering. Its a branch of civil engineering.

gawdzillah: You’re probably going to need maths and sciences, but check assist.org for specific pre-reqs for your intended major. And check the school websites for any general transfer requirements, those might not be listed with pre-reqs.

haha…I am just an incoming sophomore and will apply for Cal for 2013 Fall~This summer I just want to go to Cal and feel it! It will definitely be a motivation for me for the next Fall! I am now really really really really excited about this summer! haha…Hope you have a great time at Cal!

Thanks for sharing your schedule btw~

I took mulitvariable calc over the summer and it was the hardest class I have taken at cc. Unless your comp sci class is an intro class I personally wouldnt recomend taking more than one class during summer if you want to get an A in math.

Industrial Engineering
GPA: 4.0
Major GPA: 4.0
Pre-Reqs: All core done (physics/math) Missing statics, circuits, materials, intro to eng.
IGETC: Missing one arts/humanities class

Applied: UCB, SJSU
Accepted: UCB, SJSU
SIR: UCB

I also applied to some schools as an aerospace major.

Applied: UCLA, UCD, SDSU
Accepted: UCLA, SDSU
Rejected: UCD

Oh…emmmm…But if I don’t take Multivariable Calc over this summer then I will have to take 2 math+1 physics+1 Comp Sci+1 compositions classes next Fall…That will kill me…It leaves me no choice but trying my best to get two As. Luckily Cal has their online courses uploaded on youtube for free which include both courses I am going to take! I already bought the textbook and am watching the lectures right now~(Now I have finished half of the Calc class) And there will be one month off before I take the summer session so at that time I will definitely work on the materials in advance! Also I already have some programming experience. Hope I can get good grades to prove my ability for Cal!

Those who have taken multivariable calculus and differential equations?

I am taking Calc 3 ( multivariable) right now and it’s not so bad. Next year I will take differential equations at UCSD.

In your own opinions and from your own experience, which subject do you think is more difficult?

differential equations is far more technical but i found if slightly easier than cal 3. :D

Can you explain what you mean by technical?

he means that its more structured method of solving problems ie matrices, separation of variables, managing an ugly equation and solving it to simpler terms by differentiation/integration/substitution

anyways, i wanna rep my fellow engineers and jump on this thread

Mechanical Engineering
3.78
Tag: No
Pre-reqs: All completed by this semester.
IGETC: Not 100% complete, but was referencing it.

Applied/Response
UCLA/Denied
UCSD/Accepted
UCI/Accepted

I believe multivariable is conceptually more difficult especially the end of it with all of those theorems. Diffeq is more about figuring out which methods to use to solve differential equations. Not saying that its plug and chug but it is less conceptual then Calc 3 in my opinion.

funny how state didn’t accept you but uc did.
