Entry Level Writing Requirement for UC

<p>This is waht I received today by e-mail from UC davis (got accepted there and already signed letter of intent)

Now, should I be afraid of something?
I moved to the US in March 2004, passed English Exit Exam in September 2004, Had B in P English 10 my sophmore year, B+ in Am. Lit and As in both semester (I have 94% right nor in English) my senior year in World Lit. Should I be afraid of something or they'll just look at the level of me English? I am applying as an applied math major</p>

But what's the point of doing testing if it won't afect my admission? (hopefully)</p>

<p>Maybe they would put you in a lower level of English class if you failed. But I strongly suggest you to call them.</p>

So I guess I'll just take easy English if I won't satisfy their needs, but I hope it won't affect my GPA cuz I am planning to have 3.7-4.0 at college. I just naturally suck at writing essays (I was bad writer in Russia, so I cannot write good essays in English), but good at History/Econ/Math/Sciences</p>

<p>If you don't satisfy the entry level writing requirement at any UC campus, you have to take a course called "Subject A". Subject A is basically a basic English composition class that is a requirement, but which you do not get credit for.<br>
So basically, you need to pass the test if you don't want to have to take the Subject A class.</p>

<p>I have a related question: if u scored a 680 or above on the writing portion of the SAT, u should be exempt. I scored a 690, 680 and 650 the three times i took the SAT and i'm not exempt. Is there a mistake or something?</p>

<p>I'm guessing the one in which you got a 650 in contained high scores for math and reading and thus that sitting was your highest. UCs only look at your highest sitting not individual sections. Therefore they only saw the 650 one. I think</p>
