ESL ENGLISH Programs

Hello Everyone,

I am an international transfer student and i’ve actually applied in differents american universities. We’ll see the results. But apart from that : i am considering the possibility of attending a ESL english programs because a University credit program is great but the TOEFL IBT is required with a 90 score. ( I have 77)

Doing that will help me improve my TOEFL IBT SCORE reaching maybe 100 if it’s possible or 90. For example, in USCD, there a intensive english program for 3 months but after what can I do ? This doesn’t allows me to be directly admitted to UCSD. i have to apply again, doing all the application process then, so tough. Is this a good idea ?

I figured out that going to universities when french is tough so maybe an ESL would help me out with this issue.

I would stay 3 month close to the campus and the facilities. i will have the possibility to participate to the activites and some of the classes as for example business, management etc…

Thanks for your help.

Anyone know about it ? Any idea ?

Thanks

You should ask this in the International Students Forum. Some of the people there have had this experience.

You also could contact the closest office of EducationUSA, and speak with the counselors there. They will have good ideas for you about where you can study English, and they will have some information about which of those programs offer easier admission into the college or university where those programs are located.

You should look into the “INTO” programs. The ones at Drew or University of South Florida make you automatically eligible for entry into the university if you have sufficient grades into your ELL/EAP (English for Academic Purpose) classes. I think there’s such a program at Eckerd, too. Eckerd is a GREAT college in Florida that’s basically on the beach (I seem to recall that’s one of your key criteria);
