When a college says their deadline for FAFSA is 2/1, does that mean they have to RECEIVE it by 2/1 or it has to be PROCESSED by 2/1? I read on some sites that after a FAFSA is processed, it may take over two to three weeks for the college to receive your information. If so, would that be considered late even though you processed it by 2/1?

Also for colleges that say their CSS Profile deadline is Feb 1 - does that mean all the supplemental forms (Business/Farm is the one I'm worried about) have to be received by Feb 1? If so I'm in trouble!

Thanks FresnoMom. Is it okay if its postmarked on 2/1? Cause there's no way they're actually going to have it hand by that date. It's just too late now.

Postmarked on 2/1 should be fine. Estimate the best you can and send it in ASAP. After your parents complete their 2005 taxes (and encourage them to do it ASAP also) you can contact your colleges and see if they want you to resend the Business/Farm Supplement with the correct information.

when people are worried about FA deadlines, are they worried because they might not get FA or cuz it might hurt their chances of getting accepted?

if i initially put on the college application that i will apply for financial aid but i change my mind right now, will that affect my chances of acceptance?

Sending your FAFSA after the deadline might get you somewhat worse package.
College with deadline lets say 2/1 will take all appls. that made it under deadline and divide money between them. If your form came late it would have to wait until first batch is processed and there might not be money left even if you qualified. Colleges do have limited funds.
Many colleges are need blind, even more are need sensitive so it is hard to answer how it will reflect your chances.
