FAFSA Filing

My older D is a college freshman currently and my younger will be entering college next Fall 2010. Do I have to file 2 FAFSA applications separately or just update the previously submitted one? Thanks.

They each need their own. You can use your same parent PIN on both - each student needs their own PIN. I *think *there is a way of populating student # 2’s FAFSA with the parent details from student # 1’s FAFSA but I heard about it after we had already done both so am not sure how.

The 2010-2011 FAFSA is supposed to be different and simpler, which being the govt probably means it will be more complicated and full of bugs!

Thanks swimcatsmom. Cheers.

Forgot to mention that for the one who has filed a FAFSA in the past you will get the option to populate the new FAFSA with personal info (addresses, etc). As far as I can recall this comes after you enter the name and SSN. Don’t know how the new changes will affect this. To be honest I would as soon they didn’t mess with it until we are done filing FAFSAs (2 more years I think).
