I will not turn 18 until October 13 this year. I am simply wondering if I should put 'yes' to the following question even though I am only 17 right now:

If the student is male (age 18-25) and not registered, answer "Yes" and Selective Service will register him (question 22).

i just got a mail from them today...i still don't get wut it is. i got a card that has my SSN, name, and some other numbers...so it's like when in drastic need of men for war...they gonna tell us to go to war?

I've read that if you put "yes" that they will go ahead and register you.

If you are going to revise your FAFSA after you and your parents complete your 2005 income taxes, you could change your answer from "no" to "yes" at that time.

I know, it is very confusing. I was going to answer that question no(because my son is still 17) but after reading all the posts on CC, decided that the correct answer is yes.

It said on the ss website (www.sss.gov) that you can register if you're 17 years and 3 months old. I'm not sure what happens if you choose "no", so I just stayed on the safe side and answered "yes".

i said yes and got the mail a couple days ago
its really stupid of them to put our social security number on it where it would be immediately seen by anyone who was to open it up, even slightly.
