GPA - 3.8+
Computer Science (B.S.)
Done with most of my major prereq but I still fear rejection...mainly cuz Computer science has always been an impacted major.

indie_boy where did you apply too?? for a transfer a 3.8 is a fabulous GPA (remember its not like HS the GPA here only goes up to 4.0).

fei, I applied to almost all the UCs (university of california). I am planning to apply to few other out-of-state universities like Univ of Ill-Urbana Champ, UPenn, and U of Chicago.

A 3.8 GPA is good, but for my major I believe it is the averege. For example, take UC Berkeley, the averege transfer GPA for (EECS) major is 3.9 or something. Actually, I am counting on my grade pattern...I got a grade D and grade B in my first quater (summer). After that I have maintained all Az. So I hope things work out for me.

the average transfer for EECS gpa for berkeley is 3.9?? holy ****. what about the other UCs? Have u considered UCI for comp sci. I hear they have a great program there. and another questions why didnt u make up the D?

Yes, Berkeley's EECS averege gpa is crazy. I tried to find it online but I could not find it. so i emailed for the info.
But, couple of my friends with GPA of 3.75 and 3.8 transferred into EECS.

I am retaking the class that I got D now. I should have re-took it earlier cuz they wont look @ my winter quater grades (I applied for fall 05).

Annyways, I am considering UCI. UCI's new seperate CS department is great. I am also considering UCLA. I do not know if UCSD has that good of a CS program? In general, I would say all the UCz are great. Most of them are top tier.

But, couple of my friends with GPA of 3.75 and 3.8 transferred into EECS.

thanks for giving me hope..hehe

fei, no problem. so you are also an CS/CE major? what gpa do you have and where did u apply ?

no I am a potential EE major...just completed first semester..still a long way to go.

well, good luck...just work hard and never under-estimate your classes...

3.71 for chemical engineering at UCB and UCLA...

3.35 GPA Political Science

4.0 GPA Biz Econ

i dont know what the avg biochem gpa is but i know someone who got in with a 3.35 for that major. my boyfriend got in with a 3.19 in anthro (but his fall grades raised him to a 3.4, don't know if it makes a dif). my friend got in with a 3.8 in the bus econ. these are all people who transferred into fall 2004 at ucla.

knowing the first two got in gives me a glimmer of hope for ucla.

Pardon my French, but anyone who has above a 3.5 and completed a TAP and is posting here is masturbating their ego.

Guys, you'll do just fine.

UCLAri, I have a 4.0 and UCB didnt even consider me for the second application (HAAS biz undergrad) so I dont think a 4.0 guarantees admission at all. UCLA invited me to apply for Regents though and some people say that is a good sign.

There's a difference between Haas and the College of L&S (or whatever Cal's program is called.) You'll get into L&S, trust me. I've worked with admissions here at UCLA, and if you didn't get in with a 4.0, I'd be EXTREMELY shocked.

My God, do you people worry that a chipped fingernail is going to ruin your chances for medical school? Don't worry.

UCLAri, being paranoid helps the time pass by for us nervous transfer hopefuls. Also, I heard there are so many 4.0's applying for business undergrad at UCB, that acceptance is based on difficulty of coursework also, not just GPA. I knew a guy last year with a 4.0 who got turned away from UCB. I think he ended up enrolling at UCLA or SD.

Didn't you people, with your 4.0s, all do TAPs or TEPs or whatever honors programs are offered?

Just my two cents.

Worry more about who's gonna beat the Yankees, at least it's fun.

Tifania, I think EC and essays are more important than coursework. I have completed engineering physics and math (up to calc III) and all other Haas requirements but still no go for me :( I think u r right about too many 4.0s

What is a TAP/TEP?

An honors program or some kind of guarantee for transfer.

If you don't get into Haas, just go to L&S. It's not going to destroy your career goals, trust me.
